Description:
Turnip Boy commits to fighting in Rivals of Aether!!

Turnip Boy, from the hit indie game "Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion," is a floaty, lightweight swordie with sizable disjoints and insane stage control. Turnip Boy himself isn’t very mobile, and they don’t have many great tools to zone out the opponent, but they can work around that through smart use of their teleporting petalportals and Villager-like boombloom sprout.

Specials

NSpecial: Potted Petalporter
Tapping NSpecial puts down a portal. Once two are on stage, any player can teleport in between them! The portals go on a brief cooldown when something teleports through them. Getting parried destroys both portals and prevents Turnip Boy from placing new ones down for 2 seconds. Turnip Boy can also manually destroy portals by holding NSpecial.

FSpecial: Watering Can
Turnip Boy throws out their watering can, which splashes the opponent with a long-ranged, multi-hit attack. FSpecial also synergizes with…

DSpecial: Boombloom sprout
Turnip Boy creates a boombloom sprout underneath them (don’t ask how). Using the move also makes Turnip Boy perform a small hop, and gives them a quick horizontal movement option if left/right is held during the move’s startup.
You can then water the sprout with FSpecial to create a bomb! Turnip Boy can then kick the bomb in 4 directions by walking/jumping into it, or attack the bomb/use DSpecial again to put it on a timed detonation.

Keep in mind, however, that the opponent can also attack the bomb, and having the bomb on a timed detonation prevents Turnip Boy from kicking it.

USpecial: Rise n’ Shine
A quick rising uppercut that multi-hits on its ascent. USpecial can also be angled forwards for a more horizontal trajectory with less vertical distance.

Other Important Moves

DStrong
Turnip Boy spins in place with their trusty shovel, which doesn’t deal much knockback (relatively speaking), but sends the opponent out at a disgusting angle. You can also move during the active frames of DStrong; the longer you charge it, the farther you’ll travel! (It can even fall off ledges to catch opponents in mid-air :O)

DAir
It’s a pretty unassuming looking spiking DAir… until you hit the ground with it! DAir can actually pogo off the ground, giving Turnip Boy an upwards jump, while also cancelling the move earlier than usual (you can bypass the cancel by holding DAir before you pogo off the ground)

Huge thanks to..
McDucky for helping me with programming the specials
Yukon Wainczak for granting his creator’s blessing to have Turnip Boy (potentially) be another developer-approved third-party character, as well as providing sound effects for the character
