"Major tensions between Taiwan and China had escalated to a boiling point. The PLAN surrounded the island of Taiwan, as the Chinese prepare for a massive assault on Taiwanese soil, all in the while the Taiwanese prepared an intense defense of the island. The first striking point for the Chinese was the town of Chenggong. Early success from the west had given China an extra option to attack from the rear. Since the opening stages of Operation Unify, Taiwan had placed their civilians under martial law until further notice."
