Spencer 1860 Repeater
During the dawn of the American Civil War, muzzle-loading firearms were common-place for both Union and Confederate troops, but what some may not have fathomed was the introduction of a weapon that could fire more than once.
The Spencer Rifle and Carbine became the first official repeating arms for the US military and was used both during and after the Civil War, unfortunately it’s design was short lived as the Henry rifle proved to have the superior mechanism and paved the way for future commercial lever-action guns.
While the carbine may not be preferable for ranged combat, against musket infantry – no one could ask for a better ally. (Unless it’s a Henry, maybe..)
