Description:

Coloboma (Passive item)
Effect: Your tears split in three after traveling a short distance. After splitting, each of the three tear parts has 70% normal damage. If all three hit, it adds up to approx. double damage! But if only one hits, you’re doing less damage than you normally would.
Pool: Treasure Rooms

This item challenges the player to think about range during combat. It rewards the player with a big damage boost if they can fight from far away enough that their tears split right before hitting the enemy, but reduces the player’s damage if they fight at such long range that only one part of split tears hit the enemy. In other words there is an "optimal range" for getting over 2x normal damage with this item, but the player has to continually adjust their positioning in combat to stay at that range.

This mod also adds a challenge where the player is given The Ludovico Technique and Coloboma.

Item Synergies:
-Dr. Fetus: Bombs split just like tears do.
-The Ludovico Technique: Main tear periodically fires 3 weaker tears in the direction it is moving.
-Mom’s Knife: Triple knives (like with inner eye), but all three have the 30% damage reduction that split tears normally have with Coloboma.
-Brimstone/Technology: Laser splits partway down. Split ends deal less damage individually than the first part of the laser, but multiple can hit at once for huge damage.
-Technology 2: Main laser fires two weaker lasers that branch off from the middle.
-Tiny Planet: Tears split into two in the middle of orbit, each part circling in the opposite direction of the other.
