Description:

This is my first class mod, I hope you enjoy it. Some of the mechanics are inspired by the amazing "Spectre Class mod" from Odinblade. If you have any suggestions, feel free to share them in the comments.

This mod adds 24 skills (+ 2 additional ones obtained via status effects) and 9 statuses to make you a true master of Source/Soul magic.

Of the 24 main skills, 12 skills cost only SP with no AP cost. As the core mechanics of this class focus on Source, you will have several ways to steal, regenerate and transfer Source points. You can even prevent enemies from using source skills.

As you will see, knowing the SP of enemies and allies (those who are not playable) is crucial for this class. The best way I’ve found is through a skill called "Ethereal Vision" (you can buy it for free from the first merchant in Fort Joy) which temporarily displays the SP of allies and enemies over their heads. If you know of a better way to do this, I’d appreciate your advice. Have fun 😉

How to play this class ?

Damage

Your have 3 ways of doing damages

Piercing

  • Status expiration / Applying a new stack : Source Instability (stacks to level 3)
  • Source stealing skills : Source Drain, Soul Siphon and Endless Thirst (Aura)

Magic

  • Skills that inflicts debuffs : Infect Essence and Curse of the damned

Chaos

  • Offensive Source magic : Instability Touch, Soul Flames, (Mass)Purge, Instability Chains and Oblivion Blast

Source Manipulation

As half of the skills in this mod only cost source points, this class provides a few skills to give SP to yourself and other characters.

– Soul Swap: A teleportation skill that swaps position between you and your target. If the target is an ally, your source points are also swapped.

– Body And Soul : A status that gives you 2 new skills to exchange AP for SP and vice versa.

– Otherworldly Exchange: A target skill that converts 1 AP into 1 SP. It can also be used on the enemy (see Source Instability below).

– Cataclysm: A dome skill that creates an area where source skills cost -1 SP for you and your allies. Also prevents enemies from using source skills.

Utility Skills

– Ethereal Form : A protection skill that makes you immune to damage (except Chaos damage) and some negative effects, but you can’t deal direct damage.

– Source Shield: A protection skill that makes the target immune to most negative effects in the game.

– Banish: Hard CC that kills instantly if used on a summon.

– Call From The Other Realm: A summon that can’t deal damage but has a lot of support skills.

– A Shackle of Pain that can be cast from your target to the nearest character (without magical armour) that is an enemy of the caster (you). So you can cast it on allies (including yourself) or enemies and the Shackle of Pain will be applied with the original target as the source and the closest enemy as the status target (the one who will receive the shared damage).

Source Instability

This is your main damage status.

This status can be stacked up to 3 times and deals piercing damage when it expires. So when you apply a new stack, the old stack is removed and triggers its damage.

A new stack is also applied when the affected character uses a Sourcery School skill or a Source skill from another school.

The base damage (x1) is the same as Acid/Suffocating.

Level 1: -10% to piercing resistance (x1 piercing damage)
Level 2: -20% to piercing resistance, +1 AP cost (x1.7 piercing damage)
Level 3: -35% to piercing resistance, +1 AP cost, -1 SP (x2.4 piercing damage)

While there are basic skills that apply a stack of this status on a hit/turn such as "Unstable Zone", "Curse of the Damned", "Chains of Instability" and "Unstable Touch", some skills have a more complex behaviour :

– Soul Siphon: Absorbs all SP from the target and depending on how many SP the target has, one or more stacks are applied.

  • 0 SP: 3 stacks + Weak for 2 turns
  • 1 SP: 2 stacks
  • 2 SP: 1 stack
  • 3 SP: 0 stacks

– No Waste: This skill consumes surrounding "resources" to apply up to 3 stacks of Source Instability to the target at a cost of 1 resource per stack (maximum cost is 3 resources consumed). A resource can be either a corpse or a character with SP (1 SP is consumed). So, for example, if you want to apply 3 stacks on an enemy, you can use combinations like these:

  • 0 Corpse / 3 Characters with at least 1 SP
  • 1 Corpse / 2 Characters with at least 1 SP
  • 2 Corpses / 1 Character with at least 1 SP
  • 3 Corpses / 0 Character with at least 1 SP

Resources are consumed from closest to the target to farthest away. Consumed corpses explode but remain a valid resource for this skill.

The maximum number of resources consumed is limited by the instability status of the target’s source.

  • No status: 3 resources
  • Level 1: 2 resources
  • Level 2: 1 resource
  • Level 3: 0 resources (the skill does nothing)

If there are fewer resources than the maximum, fewer stacks are applied.
-> When casting this skill on a target with no status (3 Resources to consume) and surrounded by 2 corpses, 2 stacks will be applied instead of 3.

If there are no corpses but other enemies around the target, you can use Otherworldly Exchange to give one of those enemies a SP and use No Waste to consume that SP into a Source Instability stack for your target.

Info

The "Greedy Soul" talent from the "Divine Talent Gift Bag DLC" is highly recommended as all your skills are from the Sourcery school, which means that every time you use a skill, you have a 20% chance of regenerating 1 SP.

A cheat chest is hidden in the bushes on Fortjoy beach just after completing the prologue (image 5).

Trader name : Source Master
Fort Joy : At the first beach waypoint
Lady Vengeance : One side of the main deck
Arx : In the corner on the right as you enter the market place
