The Lore~
Commissioned by SeaLink travel services in 1971 following the initial commercial success of the 1967 M/S Saint Adwen, the MV Saint Adwen II was initially conceived for ocean-going, passenger liner service. Utilizing the same hull principles and weight-stabilizing mechanisms as GWVillager’s Saint Adwen, SAII scaled for increased passenger freedom & comfort. This design ultimately led to much wider, more open interior spaces & a cozy cabin aesthetic below.
The 1970’s saw ocean-liner travel become less and less popular in the north Atlantic; however, and the = increasing popularity of airliner travel outpaced SeaLink’s status quo entirely.
In February 1974 SeaLink found itself in a bind. The company’s Board of Trustees, facing imminent bankruptcy & investigations for mishandling of public funds, voted to temporarily pause construction of the ship. By December 1974, the SeaLink transportation empire had entirely disintegrated, taking with it the financial support necessary to bring the SAII to life.
For 10 years, MV Saint Adwen II’s hull was left incomplete and laid up. That was, until September 1984 when it was purchased by prospectors representing Southern-Gothic-Kitty Unlimited, INC. After extensive reconstruction and repair, the ship was eventually redesignated for cruise & military transportation services between Sawyern and Arctichub, with occasional holiday travel to & from Spycakes.
Remaining true to the vessel’s original design purpose as an Ocean Liner, SGK Unlimited, Inc. opted to maintain an outward facade that invoked the great liners of the 1950’s, such as the SS United States.
The interiors; however, were redesigned for mid-80’s comfort and style, with sweeping open spaces and video-monitor technology integrated throughout the ship.
Model Specs:
SA II was renovated with 6 modern diesel engines, powering five giant propellers (from the required decorations mod).
At present, she can achieve a modest 26 knots, while also enabling a web of heaters necessary for passenger comfort (and survival) during Arctic travel. CAUTION: when Engine Overheating is enabled it can get toasty very quick!
Warnings:
When building your own missions, keep NPC/Survivor counts to approx 50.
Be careful when combining with other missions/mods, issues with world-saving can occur!

~A Personal Note~
This is the first major Add-On in my series presenting several unique ocean-liner & passenger ship designs, each with StormWorks-styled storytelling woven through the big ol’ boats design & game-play.
My original goal was to make an accessible, visually appealing, & logical Ocean Liner-styled model to travel around the game in. It is now a whole three months later & I think I am finally ready to let this project loose!
I am so excited for you to explore this build, and I welcome any recommendations for improvements as I set my sights on newer and more elaborate projects!
This creative project has been my way of de-stressing from the pains of graduate school and an extremely intense non-profit internship. I sincerely hope my model and add-on bring you some fun!
If my work seems at all appealing to you, please considering buying me a coffee@
