Description:

Only nine residential houses and zero residents hanging around on the Isle of Donkk just don’t feel right. The addon is intended to fix that issue.

Features

1. Bigger towns. The unnamed fishing village (at the northernmost tip, where you sell diesel fuel) now became a fully fledged town of Donkkvik (named after the island itself). Has many houses, restaurants and bars (ask bartender for a drink), church, cathedral (you can play organ here), hospital, streets and squares. Town of Dreimor also begame bigger with new houses, cafe and church. Spycakes village remained almost the same due to the rough landscape around.

2. Dynamic NPCs. Unfortunately, NPCs cannot walk due to the game limitations (only zombies can…), but it doesn’t mean they cannot live. Now they will spawn in the towns and move around when you don’t see them, sit on the benches and in restaurants, make small talks with each other and even talk to you (configurable) in the chat on different topics such as weather or your recent coastguarding missions, all of them are dynamically generated based on events happening in realtime.

3. Illumination and navigation. All the buildings come with dynamic nighttime lights (the windows go on and off at different times), there’re lightposts and road signs as well in some places to make the view from the binoculars more dynamic and navigation without GPS easier.

4. Bearable lags. I’m playing a potato myself so this was the main requirement. A lot of different approaches were trialed here just to lower the FPS/TPS consumption (still, there’re some complex buildings so lower your expectations a bit if you’re a fellow potato player). If you’re having heavy lags, set NPCs count multiplier in configs to a lower value (you can do that with a chat command, e.g. send ?dp_npc_mult 0.2 to the chat), disable default cargo containers addon and reduce number of default AI vehicles.

How to find

As usual, start a new game and enable the addon in the new game options. The Isle of Donkk is (usually) located west of the starter base, it’s the one where the short piece of rail arc from Camodo terminal ends. If you want to start a new game there, you may want to select "Mainland Airstrip" or "Terminal Spycakes" as your start location.

Configuration

Few configurations are available when starting a game with this addon:

* NPCs count multiplier – defines how many NPC will spawn in towns (in average), 1.0 is the default number, 4.0 means 4x times more NPCs (higher values bring LOT more lag) and 0.2 means people are a rare sight in the streets.
* NPCs reply to chat messages – if enabled (default), say somehting to the chat when you stay in front of any NPC (or seat next to them) to hear their wise and very important thoughts.
* NPCs also talk first in chat – if enabled (deafult), NPCs may also output these thoughts to the chat when you just walk by them close enough or seat next to them. Doesn’t work if previous option is disabled.

You can also change them in any already started game using the chat commands ?dp_npc_chat talk|reply|none and ?dp_npc_mult x.
