Martial Glory [Updated for W&P]
Updated for the Warden & the Paunch DLC.
A simple mod that slightly improves the bonuses from Martial Prowess and Martial Mastery, and adds small bonuses to ranged block chance and reload rate.
It also adds Martial Mastery to all the warrior type characters, and Sisters of Avelorn in place of Martial Prowess.
Martial Prowess –
+4 melee attack
+12 melee defense
+5 reloading
+10 missile block chance
Martial Mastery –
+8 melee attack
+18 melee defense
+10 reloading
+20 missile block chance
There is a basic fallacy in how High Elves melee units are balanced. High Elves units will over-perform in 1v1 testing, when they engage in melee at full health thanks to Martial Prowess, whereas other factions such as Greenskins and Dark Elves do not receive their bonuses from Murderous Prowess or Waagh (however many As are there). However in a proper combined arms battle, they take damage from other sources such as magic and missiles, which nullifies their martial prowess bonus much faster, and puts them at a significant disadvantage. This is a fine point of balancing which is not easy to identify, and the reason why High Elves continue to be less than competitive. Some experts, including youtubers, will claim how High Elves "just need extra player skills" – which is a diplomatic way of saying that they are poorly balanced without criticizing everyone’s favorite game. Others will claim that this is countered by the extra range of High Elves, which is also not true since even the most basic High Elves archer is significantly more expensive than other factions’, thus is already balanced via their cost.
This mod tries to correct that balancing issue. Or may be I am biased. Who cares. It is a mod.
