Description:

This mod was made with the intention of making Portugal’s national ideas and general playstyle more in tune with its history.

Changed portuguese national ideas, a few missions, a few events and changed its age bonus.

New Portuguese National Ideas
Traditions

Defensive tradition from the Reconquista/Aljubarrota -20% Shock damage received +2 Land leader shock

Legacy of the Navigator

Represents the tradition of exploration and astronomical/nautical studies under his patronage +0.5 Navy tradition Represent the discovery of a sea route to India and the exceptional manuever ability by its leaders to actualyy make the journey +2 Naval leader maneuver

Feitorias

Same idea as trade rights/posts to ressuply, increasing range +25% range Allows for a better power projection +10% Global trade power Represents the armadas of india and the portuguese ship innovations

Armada da India

+1 Artillery fire +5% Ship durability To represent Afonso de Albuquerque and its rapid conquests on the Indian Ocean (in effect creating a mare clausum)

Lion of the Seas

+20% Infantry ability After the monopoly was established, forward the goods to the capital. The spice must flow.

+20 Global colonial growth Portugal was more of an absolute monarchy until the Liberal Revoltution of 1820

Ambitions

Vanilla – seems ok to me to represent the focus on the colonies after the fall of State of the Indies +20% Global tariffs

New Age Bonus
Age of Discovery

To represet the actual advantage the portuguese had over most europeans and especially over african and asian nations, its naval innovations. -25% Diplomatic Technology cost (vanilla settler growth)

Colonization
Made a tweak to non-iberians and exploration idea group to try and make them colonize a bit later in game, instead of pratically in the beggining.

Changed event of spices to increase its value while there is a monopoly, and after that event is over their price is still about 10% higher than before.
