Condo Runaround CQB
Breach, Clear, and Capture in this highly affordable piece of inner-city real estate!
—-Read Down for an important addendum—-
Not content with only acquiring lucrative military contracts, the Ravens have decided to forge ahead in a different kind of market. Naturally, Eagle’s response was immediate and competitive; seize the condo at any cost!
Eagle has the building surrounded, and also packs some armored vehicles in case the reds capture one of their staging points. Meanwhile, Raven busies itself with its new living space, three flags, one on every second floor. Eagle has the fire escape and multiple ground floor entrance options. The condo itself has all of its spawnpoints made distant from the flags; safer to spawn in, but easier to cap, so beware! Stick to the defendable condo floors, or test your luck in the exposed outdoors. And remember, buy low, sell high!
Recommended: 40-50 bots, Point Match/ Skirmish. If rockets/ grenade launchers are to be disabled, then disable tanks, choppers and APCs with them.
–Note—
This map, regrettably, has a few problems that remain unfixed. First, due to the editor’s limitations, and the sheer number of objects used (over 2200!), the map runs poorly on low-end to middling PCs. I could not reduce the object count any further without reducing the map’s scope.
Second, the more technical oopsie: this was initially slated as a defend-and attack map, and it almost worked perfectly. With one-way neighbors, red would permanently defend, and blue would seek to capture and rout the enemy. Perfect for skirmish, but the problem lay in defensive bot behavior. Bots don’t defend attack routes; they go for the best vantage points. So the reds, instead of defending their floor, would go to the highest floor within the flag’s spherical protect range, and ignore the floors they were supposed to be defending.
The first issue may just be fixed for me with time and optimization on Steelraven’s part. IF the second issue is also addressed somehow, and we get more control over bot’s defensive choices, this map’s original version will also be uploaded.
In the meantime, do check out my other, more functional maps in the collection above!
