Description:

Greetings Citizens of Rome !

This is a historically accurate mod set in AD 482 – Six years after the fall of Rome to the barbarians, and one year after the ascension of the Merovingian Clovis to the throne of the Frankish Kingdom.

The Franks are a Germanic people who initially settled in the Roman province of Belgica as foederati in Rome’s service. They served the empire loyally, providing contingents of men to fight alongside the Roman coalition at the Battle of Chalons in AD 451.

Following the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in AD 476, and the rise to the throne of the new Frankish king Clovis, the Franks look set to take advantage of the power vacuum that has emerged in Gaul and establish a new empire for themselves in the process.

Historically, the Frankish King Clovis united most of Gaul, beginning with the Romano-Gallic lands in the Domain of Soissons by defeating the Roman ruler Syagrius. Clovis then proceeded to conquer the lands of Aquataine which was ruled by the Visigoths, he followed these conquests with the subjugation of the Allemani by bringing the lands on the right-bank of the Rhine river under his rule. Clovis converted his realm to Christianity prior to a great battle – which specific battle is unknown, but the said battle (according to historians) could have been early into Clovis’ reign.
