Description:

Introduction to the:

That day I was sitting on the lookout of the lighthouse reading a book, where the sun and warm wind were the best in the harbour.

As I closed the book, intending to look into the distance, my adjutant burst in, beads of sweat still on his face.

She said to me in a quick voice, ‘Miss Agincourt, the Admiralty has decided to disassemble your ship.’

I thought I would be shocked, but I wasn’t. Very quietly, I said to Audrey, "So be it."

Then I stood up and looked at the hull in the harbor, shining golden in the setting sun.

That was the last time I saw it in its entirety.

— Ms.Agincourt

During World War I, Agincourt was refitted in 1915 to remove the flybridge between the two chimneys in the middle of the ship. In 1916, he joined the First Battleship sub-fleet and took part in the famous Battle of Jutland. After the war, the British government tried to sell it, but there were no takers. She was decommissioned in 1919 and converted to reserve ship. It was demolished in 1922 under the terms of the Washington Naval Treaty.
