STRAUMSTAD
Deep in the northwestern corner of Raven territory is a small island known locally as Straumstad.
During the period of political turmoil known as the “Hot truce” an eagle scouting plane discovered what appeared to be a hastily constructed ballistic missile base. Three days later, Eagle submarine Rosenrot hit the launch facility with a missile strike. The missile silo heavily damaged and the base’s security compromised, Raven quickly abandoned the base.
Straumstad ceased to be a point of interest, and years later Raven reconnaissance showed that the base had been taken over by a black market cabal who used the dockyard as a “shipment exchange” – a way to switch contraband between ships to prevent it from being tracked.
Raven forces moved in to resecure the area, and further scouting revealed that the black marketeers had been rebuilding the ballistic missile facility, an asset that could not be allowed to fall into unknown hands.
Eagle high command soon picked up on the trail after it was reported that a Raven strike team had been sent to Straumstad. Fearing the worst, an Eagle strike team was deployed to ensure the security of any nuclear warheads that may be located on the island.
Two hours ago, as each team was approaching the island, communications broke down at an Eagle-Raven peace conference in Baneburg. The ceasefire was lifted, and the order to capture and control all contested zones with lethal force was issued.
Both Eagle and Raven now have a simple goal. Straumstad must not fall into enemy hands.
RECOMMENDED:
BOTS: 60+
GAMEMODE:
Skirmish is the best gamemode there is but any other works fine
LOADOUT:
Engagement range is close-medium, so most assault weapons will do.
FLAG CONFIGURATION:
I suggest starting both teams with two isolated points each in opposite corners of the island.
I focused on allowing several different routes between flags while I was making this map after noticing that all of my other maps only ever had a single path from one flag to the next. In Straumstad, each flag is connected to at least three others by at least five different lanes, allowing flags to change hands multiple times throughout the battle and encouraging flanking maneuvers.
I’m currently working on Battle Royale and Beachhead Assault configurations for this map, which I’ll release soon. I suggest subscribing to the comment thread down below so I can notify you when they’re out.
The music I used was ROSENROT by RAMMSTEIN: https://youtu.be/af59U2BRRAU
I do not own this music and am not making any money off it. Go support RAMMSTEIN. They’re a great band and deserve more fans.
oh and finally https://reshade.me/
I used reshade for the screenshots and video.
