Feb’s Cuter Felins – Furred Version

A patch that makes Kawa’s Felin race mod more… well, ANIME. This REQUIRES the original Felin mod to function!

Why, though?

I made this a while ago for personal use because none of the other felin patches on the workshop went ALL THE WAY in terms of body, face, and hair sprites being made to match Cutebound’s style… so I made my own.

I’ve actually made TWO different Cutebound patches for the Felin mod: a version which radically changes Felins into nekomimi-style characters as much as the default Cutebound alters Avians into harpies, but ALSO a version which I would personally describe as more faithful to the original Felin design, albeit in a Cutebound-esque style, which keeps the felins furred.

This is the furred version.

The kemonomimi version can be found here – do NOT install both mods at once, and make sure that any additional patches you install are for the version of the mod you have installed!

What’s been changed:

– The face, body, and head sprites are altered to look similar to Cutebound’s. As of the most recent update, this mod no longer alters the frame files for hair, body, or emote sprite sheets. Compatibility ahoy!

– All of the default Felin hairstyles and colors have been replaced with modified human hairstyles from Cutebound; these were ALL edited to allow Felin ears to work properly with them. Many hairstyles also have several ‘variants’ with accessories in different colors(including one that changes with eye/undie colors).

– The furred version of the mod shouldn’t have any hairstyles with noticeable ‘facial hair’ options as of the latest version. If you find any, send me a screenshot and I’ll try to fix it ASAP.

– The eye sclera color changes with the belly color! Some options look odd because of overlap between fur/belly colors, but you can still mix and match to get something nice!

– Some custom personal easter egg hairstyles have been added in. Because reasons.

– As far as I can tell, this patch is entirely compatible with the extra colors added by Felins Fur+ without issue. In fact, I recommend using it with this for more color variety!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

– Other mods that alter the visuals of Felin assets are EXTREMELY UNLIKELY to work right if installed alongside this! Before reporting an issue, please check if it happens with nothing but this mod and Felins installed, because the issue might be a different mod trying to do something similar!

– This mod requires the Felin race mod to function. It’s intended to be installed alongside Cutebound so that the art styles don’t clash as much, but technically it could be used without Cutebound if you wanted.

– It’s recommended you make a brand- new Felin character after installing this because of the hairstyle changes. While the colors might be okay if you uninstall, your felin will likely be bald if you used a hairstyle that is exclusive to the mod.

– Felins created without this mod might be bald because of hairstyle file discrepancies. It’s best to ensure that everyone who’s playing(server and client) all use this mod to avoid weirdness.

– If the Felin mod updates in the future with changes to the file felin.species, this mod will likely need to be updated to reflect that. This is because I opted to use the method Cutebound itself uses to replace the species file itself before patching it in order to add new hairstyles and such while ensuring the colors used are the correct ones; if this ever becomes a problem, let me know and I’ll try to fix that.

COMPATIBLE MODS:

– Anything which adds new hairstyles to Felins in its native format.
– Anything that patches the Felins in a way unrelated to their visual assets should theoretically work. This is a visual overhaul.

INCOMPATIBLE MODS(Check for these in your installation before reporting an issue!):

– Anything which also attempts replaces any of the head, body, and emote sprites will be jank if installed alongside this.
– Anything which completely replaces the felin.species file
– Anything adding new body colors to felins will technically work but is not recommended unless you want bright neon colored skin tones

Kawa for making the Felins exist. You are my hero for making catgirls and catboys exist in Starbound from even the early days, and the whole reason my patches existing is so that the excellent content in the Felins mod which is unrelated to the character appearances can be enjoyed without breaking immersion while using Cutebound.
