Description:

Korean War faction mod painstakingly put together of the course of the past months to be as accurate as I could make it. Includes a healthy variety of factions, such as:

UN:
British Commonwealth Forces Korea
Kagnew Battalion (Ethiopia)
Turkish Brigade
Greek Expeditionary Force
United States Army

Communist Bloc:
Korean People’s Army (North Korea)
People’s Volunteer Army (China)

With the exception of the British, all other UN forces were primarily outfitted with U.S. equipment given to them upon arriving in Korea, but there are some unique pieces of kit for each nation that I was able to find historical evidence of, such as a limited quantity of Turkish troops using Mauser rifles in the early war, and the Kagnew Battalion wearing Pith helmets when arriving in Korea (though they were shortly after issued U.S. M1 helmets).

As for the Communists, their kit was a LOT more unstandardized, particularly in regard to the early war PVA, and I attempted to reflect that in the factions. The North Koreans are more heavily armed overall with T-34 tanks and Soviet equipment delivered prior to the war, but the Chinese have all sorts of weapons including rifles from the Chinese civil war, British sten guns from WW2, and even automatic mauser pistols. I will admit as hard historical evidence was difficult to come across for the PVA, I took a lot of inspiration from the recent Chinese war movie Battle at Lake Changjin.

Overall, I think the Korean War setting is heavily overlooked and offers a really interesting change of pace from WW2 gameplay, particularly with the inclusion of helicopters being utilized in regular combat/medevac roles for the first time. As always, the faction was created with the smallest modset possible.

The faction mod is roughly set to late 1950 – early 1951, so it’s all winter gear.
