Naval Logistics Revamp
Make Naval Units relevant and essential for multi-continent conquest again. This mod aims to make naval units neccessary for transporting units without removing Embarkment for short distance itself.
- Unit base embarked movement reduced to 1. All embarked movement bonuses by technologies are removed except Steam Power now only give +1 Embarked Movement (from +2). Now without policy or era or other bonuses, your unit can only have maximum of 2 Embarked Movement Speed.
- All Naval units now have Escort ability similar to Jong. It can transport escorting units using its own movement.
- All Naval units now have +3 Combat Strength when in formation. Additional +3 bonus for each technology that used to grant Embarked Movement Speed (Square Rigging, Steam Power and Combustion). Think of it as the units boarding on the ships fighting, and further technologies allow them to fight more effectively onboard.
- Jong is compensated by reducing its cost by 20, back to 280 (equals to Frigate) and its maintenance is reduced by 1 (4 from 5). Their bonus is still there (+ additional 5 Combat Strength when in formation).
Unfortunately Religious units cannot be in formation anymore so it’s quite tedious to spread religions on other continents now. I will think of a way to fix that.
And yes, AI naval will most likely be destroyed further by this mod.
