Description:

1 April 1960

Komrade, my friend, I have glorious news!

I am writing to you because those losers in the Belgian government have decided to emancipate their former kolony of the Kongo. Apparently they are still feeling the weight of having to rebuild their kountry after the war, and due to pressure from the populace have decided to allow the Kongolese to be independent.

Or at least that’s what they think!

After intercepting this opportune news, our glorious Premiere has akted quickly and sent me and a small fleet to take kontrol of the former kolony and kreate a temporary government until you can arrive. I have established a supply port here on the koast and have a small fleet of konstruction vehicles on standby until you arrive, just in case you decide to use realistik start. We have plenty of fuel stored here for you too. Time is of the essence, Komrade, so get on a ship as soon as you can. It is important, Komrade. As soon as you get here the first thing you must do is create a road to the port city of New Brussels (or as I have come to call it New Lenningrad ha) and take kommand of the civics there. Once you have done that, the Motherland wants you to turn this backwards agrarian kolony into a thriving industrial republik and exploit the natural resources in the name of Progress.

I will give you a brief history of the kolony you can read on the ship.

The Belgians mostly used this land for cotton, tea, tobacco, dye and sugar plantations since the beginning of the steam age and have built a rudimentary rail network to ship these goods to the koast. Unfortunately, there was a monsoon last year that wiped out the rail bridges, so that is an obstikal we must overcome. Some of our skouts we sent up the Kongo River have reported that there is a massive swamp that looks like a prime location for oil to be found, however there are native villages deep in the jungle. Let’s just say the Workers of the World aren’t always happy to see us. As they kontinued up the river they found traces of bauxite along the river bed. They said it got more koncentrated the further up the river they went. Eventually they ran into too many hostiles and had to turn back, but the kaptain thinks that there might be a large deposit of bauxite at the source of the river.

When asked about iron and coal, some of the local peasants have said that there is red and black rocks far to the east towards the mountains. If this is true, you should take advantage of the pre-existing rail network to establish lines to these ore deposits and ship them back to the Motherland. The peasants also said that there are old stories of rocks that glow even further past the black rocks. Sounds like you might find some uranium too. The Motherland sure could use more glowing rocks, eh Komrade?

I will be awaiting your arrival.

Creator’s notes:

-The bottle neck to the coast is narrow so you will need to plan your city well to fit heavy industry. You may want to eventually remove the plantation near the city for prime realestate.
-The map was created with the intention of being played on realistic building mode, but you don’t have to. It’s considerably hard if you do.
-This is my first map.
-Feedback welcome. Love it? Hate it? Tell me why.
