Description:

Watership Down, Prince Caspian, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH — what do they all have in common? They make you fall in love with small mammal and rodent characters.

This replacer swaps out the standard Wildermyth names for a set inspired by those and related anthro fantasy works.

* Characteristic Human Names: Clawdine Hardbiter, Grimcliffe Dot, Littachit Brunwynde
* Characteristic Place Names: Threespan, Umber Chief Run, Wornscurry Bookhoard
* Characteristic Weapon Names: Cheatneedle, Scant’s Battleaxe, Haulbow of Ruetubers

The deets:
– First names include lots of nouns (think Hazel and Trufflehunter) and compounds with an onomatopoeic "squeak" or "mutter" sound (think Reepicheep and Nicodemus).
– Pretty much the entire Lapine vocabulary from Watership Down has been worked into appropriate places (e.g., a possible surname element is "hrair"; lakes have roughly one-in-twenty odds to be called a "hlao").
– Town names are most likely to generate with the suffix "burrow", "nest", "warren", or "sett."
– Weapon names reflect the fears and concerns of the sort of animal that needs to think about death by owl on a regular basis.
– "Totems" (one of the elements used to generate company names) include nature names from a squirrel’s-eye view.

Designed to pair with my mouse-ear and rabbit-ear hairs, but works just fine as a standalone!

The game seems to only work from one set of namegen files at a time (theoretically, whichever loads last wins) … but I have found that you can create interesting mixes by going into "options" and changing out whether your name-gen mod is loaded in mid-game. The function that makes adjacent tiles more likely to generate similar names (and lets your heroes talk about nearby places accurately) will preserve some of the words from whatever was loaded previously.

(By the way … I enjoy original-flavor Wildermyth names a lot, but I LOVE making random generators, so if anyone has ideas, requests, etc. for themes, please drop me a comment.)
