This mod still works fine and does not yet (if ever) need an update.
I always use this mod when playing and will release an updated copy of it (which will be linked here) if it ever stops working. I’ll also put a comment on this mod so y’all get a notification letting you know to switch over.
Why not just update main mod here? I can’t update this main version of it cos descriptor files, aka I used space bars when initially making the mod’s folder name like a dummy and the mod’s descriptor file doesn’t take too kindly to that. What I can do though is copy and paste the files within the mod folder to a new mod, and then make any alterations needed to those files so they work with whatever update broke them.

This mod allows you build tribal holdings in empty areas and upgrade vanilla tribal buildings to level 4. And these buildings become their level 4 equivalents when you feudalize. Tis most balanced. The upgraded buildings have now been localized, so you’ll get actual descriptions and names rather than those eye-bleeding underscores!

The upgrades add the same amount to a holding’s usefulness as the buildings they’re upgrades of, just like vanilla upgrades. For example, the level 4 warrior gathering adds the same amount as the level 1 warrior gathering but multiplied by 4, so lots of levies, +16% attack for heavy infantry and skirmishers, +8% defense for heavy infantry and skirmishers, +40% champion strength and +4 champions from a single building. Effects from multiple buildings stack. Most ooga-boogaish, most civilized, most balanced.

The only exception is the holdings themselves, where in vanilla the coastal defensive advantage is unchanging across the levels. This has been amended, for surely a holding on the coast of a higher caliber will have more fished fish available for the slapping of enemies with?

The level 4 tribal holding doesn’t grow the levies as much as it ought to because there’s no function I’m aware of in the code that lets you go so *balancefully* high on levies from a single building (holdings are buildings in the code), so if you seek maximum efficiency in the acquiring of good chaps to assist in your goals of ooga-booga-fication then it would be wise to upgrade low level holdings before high level ones.

Check out Henry’s mod if you want to build tribal holdings but don’t need level 4 tribal buildings.

Check out Tor’s Tribal Buildings if you’re completely insane (amazing) and want level 8 tribal buildings. I don’t think it lets you build tribal holdings by itself tho.

To tear down those castles you can’t use, use Great Empire wars, kindly provided to us all by a pearl, to liberate the people of their oppressive feudal shackles before coming in, engaging in a most civilized and respectful bout of fisticuffs over who is better to lead in the ways of ooga booga, and letting them graciously join you as new friends. I’m not aware of any other way to tribalize feudal holdings, so if any of you know let me know through the comments.

Also check out this mod if you love playing tribal. It lets you completely destroy holdings and turn them into ruins, and then they have a yearly chance to become tribal holdings (unless they’re not county capital, in which case the holding is just straight up destroyed). Force the world to return to tribal!
