Il Fiat 370 fu presentato nell’agosto 1976 per sostituire il Fiat 343, il Fiat 308 ed il Fiat 306.
A partire dal 1979, lo stesso tipo di autobus viene venduto col nuovo marchio IVECO. Gli ultimi veicoli marchiati Fiat saranno venduti nel 1983.
Il 370 è stato carrozzato da numerosi costruttori, quali Orlandi, Menarini, Portesi, ecc… dando vita ad innumerevoli varianti.
La classificazione delle varie tipologie/motorizzazioni avviene, nel caso dei veicoli fiat/iveco, integrando la lunghezza del rotabile ed i cavalli sviluppati dal motore al nome del veicolo stesso. Il 370.12.26 sarà quindi un Fiat 370 con telaio da 12 metri e potenza del motore di 260cv.
La gamma del 370 si compone di veicoli lunghi 9, 10, 11 e 12 metri, mossi da motori a 6 ed 8 cilindri in diverse disposizioni (in linea, a V e sovralimentati).
Cotral (ex Acotral) è un’azienda che si occupa del trasporto pubblico nel Lazio, principalmente su strada; questa società è stata quella, tra tutte le italiane, ad aver ordinato il maggior numero di 370.

The Fiat 370 was presented in August 1976 to replace the Fiat 343, the Fiat 308 and the Fiat 306.
Starting from 1979, the same type of bus is sold under the new IVECO brand. The last Fiat-branded vehicles will be sold in 1983.
The 370 was bodyworked by numerous builders, such as Orlandi, Menarini, Portesi, etc … giving life to countless variants.
The classification of the various types / engines takes place, in the case of fiat / iveco vehicles, by integrating the length of the rolling stock and the horsepower developed by the engine with the name of the vehicle itself. The 370.12.26 will therefore be a Fiat 370 with a 12-meter chassis and an engine power of 260hp.
The 370 range consists of 9, 10, 11 and 12 meter long vehicles, powered by 6 and 8 cylinder engines in different arrangements (in-line, V and turbocharged).
Cotral (formerly Acotral) is a company that deals with public transport in Lazio, mainly by road; this company was the one, among all the Italians, to have ordered the largest quantity of 370.
