Quality Chunks: What Does It Add?

Quality Chunks adds 66 chunks that I carefully playtested and tried to make for quality over quantity. These are not intended to add some insane difficulty, just to spruce up the existing world in a balanced way. I’ve tried to work out all the generation bugs I could, but feel free to drop any issues you find in the comments, I intend to continue updating this chunkpack. Here’s what there is so far as of 2020 Feb 13th.

More About Quality Chunks
Creation of the Chunks

I made every chunk from scratch, the intention was to add some fresh variety to the game. It does have a bit more ‘green’ to it, in the sense I added quite a few Generic chunks with dirt patches that have bushes. Also more colour. There’s a few chunks with barred off holes in the ground that have a chance of spawning coloured lights which looks pretty neat with Full Lighting. I also tried to add a bunch more ‘inside a wall’ sort of builds, to give the world a more ‘tunneled’ feeling. I like the look, but no hard feelings if it’s too far of a departure from vanilla Streets of Rogue for you.

Something to note, is I tried to add a bit of ‘randomness’ to every chunk. Not every window will spawn every time, nor will some chairs/plants/shelves/NPCs. The idea is to add some freshness to every new spawn of even the same chunks. A good example is the Tunnel type Generic chunks that are bridges over holes. The bridge itself can have chunks missing with a random pattern depending on how it spawns. (Though I was careful to make sure it can never cut you off from the other side) Every chunk has been playtested multiple times in both the Level Editor and an actual run through the game to make sure they gen correctly. (As said before, feel free to drop any issues in the comments)

Future Plans

I intend to keep updating this chunkpack, though I don’t guarantee any structured sort of update schedule. Just keep your eyes open. I’d like to add a good more variety for every kind of chunk. If you want to track what’s new feel free to peek inside the Changelog.

Can You Use These Chunks in Another Chunkpack?

No. I spent hours making these, and I’d appreciate people not using them in a different published pack. If you want to make a personal chunkpack you don’t post for public consumption, then sure, but otherwise, please don’t. You can enable multiple chunpacks at the same time anyways, if you want to use Quality Chunks alongside another pack.
