Description:

Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen May 2, 1892 – April 21, 1918) was a German fighter pilot who became the best World War I pilot with 82 enemy aircraft shot down. He is known by the nickname "Red Baron", which he earned after painting the fuselage of his Fokker Dr.I plane bright red, and because of his belonging to the German baronial nobility of the Freiherr.

The Fokker Dr. I was a triplane, a light manoeuvrable fighter designed by Fokker. It was in service with the Air Force of the German Empire during World War I. The fighter was produced in small numbers and had many design flaws. It became widely known as the aircraft on which German ace pilot Manfred von Richthofen "the Red Baron" won his last 20 battles.
