Olympus (Auxiliary Super Asgard)
Olympus (Auxiliary Super Asgard)
Olympus is a standalone auxiliary version of Asgard with turret layout based on the reduced turret version of Super Asgard mod by plasmafall250 on Nexusmods https://www.nexusmods.com/x4foundations/mods/638 or gso25mm in https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2430723151 (Steam workshop is the standard version with more turrets.). Thanks, Super Asgard mod for the turret layout.
Olympus is a Super Asgard with additional repair and resupply capability and can carry 10 M ships. Turret positions and groups are heavily edited from the super Asgard mod. They spread wider and nearby groups are merged together. This should make them slightly harder to destroy and easier to manage.
Olympus still punches hard like any Asgard. Its resupply capability is relatively poor compared to dedicated auxiliary ships due to low storage capacity, limited docking space, and poor mobility. And Olympus makes a poor carrier with only 3S1M docks.
The Olympus II version is an Olympus with increased mobility on top of its standard capabilities. It uses 11 L engines instead of 1 XL engine. Olympus II max speed is about as fast as a Behemoth or Pheonix Vanguard. Its turn rate and strafing speed are also improved, but still worse than a destroyer. The best thing about it is it is an XL battleship with Destroyer travel drive spec.
Olympus compared to vanilla Asgard:
– Olympus is an auxiliary ship with 1M, 3S docks, and can support L/XL ships.
– Cargo capacity increased from 9,000 containers to 30,000 universal to accommodate supplies.
– Added 10 internal M storage, (generic M ship storage)
– Drone capacity increased to 40.
– Missile capacity increased to 2,000 missiles.
– Turrets increased from 16L+6M to 24L+50M.
– Added Olympus Beam Cannon as an alternative Asgard XL weapon. It has 25% damage compared to vanilla Asgard, but also 25% heat generation, 16km range, and slightly improved cooling. 25% of Asgard is still plenty enough to kill a fleet before they can get a shot off while being far easier to manage.
– Olympus and its beam are 200% the cost of vanilla Asgard and its beam.
– Olympus II uses 11L engines instead of 1 XL engine. That’s about 4 times the thrusts. This mod balanced the Olympus II drag to keep its max speed at ~160%, and its turn rate at ~130%.
– Olympus II is 250% the cost of vanilla Asgard. And 11 L engines are far more expensive than 1 XL engine.
– Blueprints are available from both TER and PIO.
Other Notes:
– Get the Reactive Docking mod to help manage your fighters’ behavior. Not having to recall fighters would save your sanity for using an auxiliary ship as a makeshift carrier.
– It can carry M, but I really don’t recommend bringing M on Olympus. M just takes too long to dock. You could dock 12S before 1M.
– Why Olympus? To maintain the naming convention of naming after mythical places. Plus, the Olympus starts with O, which I replace with 0 in my personal version to put it on top of the auxiliary ship list.
