Description:

Ave Citizens of Rome

This mod is set during the reign of the Western Roman Emperor Valentinian III

Valentinians reign was significant in that it oversaw various barbarian invasions and that battle of Chalons. This mod is focused around the prominant general of the era – Flavius Aetius, who was one of the final great Western Roman generals.

Since the division of the Roman Empire in AD 395, the Western Empire has been beset by barbarian invasions from across the Rhine and Danube frontiers. The Visigoths sacked Rome in AD 410, the same year the province of Britannia was abandoned. The Vandals, Alans and Suebi crossed the frozen Rhine river in AD 406, with the Suebi establishing themselves in the province of Hispania, and the Vandals establishing a new kingdom in the province of Africa – severing Rome off from its important grain supply in the process. The Ostrogoths have invaded and settled in the province of Pannonia, while the Burgundians and Franks have been federated into the Empire.

In the midst of the barbarian invasion, the Huns under the leadership of their king Atilla, have united the tribes of Germania and the Steppes and will soon move again the Roman Empire in full strength. In Rome, the emperor Valentinian III rules with incompetence and shows no signs of leadership, however, Rome’s greatest general – Flavius Aetius – is a competent and experienced commander. Can he save Rome from the barbarians ?…time shall reveal all.
