Youth Palace Hotel
Youth Palace of Yerevan, Armenia.
Works as a hotel with tourist attractiveness 4.2. Employs 80 workers, can accept up to 480 tourists.
The building was built during 1970s and served since late 70s until 90s. It was the highest building in Armenia after the famous TV tower and was one of the most beloved places of Yerevan. People have been calling it Kukuruznik which means maize building. The 14 storey part contained hotel, cinema, museum, marriage office with hall. On the roof of the hotel, there was a spinning restaurant and observation deck with city view.
Actually this was a huge architectural complex containing the main building, swimming pool and shops. All the buildings were demolished in 2006, as had come into disrepair, and I couldn’t collect enough photos to reproduce all of them as a pack. In year 2010 there were plans to build a new hotel building, but today, the place is just a big gravel quarry.
