OVERVIEW

FAWD is a Facial Animation extension for a selection of alien races. These races (along with humans and the annelitrice) also receive some size rescalings for aesthetic purposes. See the previews above for examples (and THIGAPPE’s page for even more).

FAWD also includes custom Facial Animation head graphics for the Ayameduki races, the arachne and the rakkle. In the latter’s case, this is the first Facial Animation patch (to my knowledge) that properly colors the skin on rakkle faces!

With Facial Animation: Experimentals installed, FAWD offers extended functionality. The Neclose and Arachne both render with dark sclera, and all demihuman races generate only with brightly colored irises.

Note that the above assets are all derivative of NALS’ own work. This was done for the sake of making the art look as close in style the original assets as possible. All credit to NALS for the original textures.

FAWD currently supports the following races:

TEXTURE MODIFICATIONS
A few textures from the Ayameduki race series are replaced by FAWD. I have contacted the original author for proper permission to do this but have received no reply. They’re welcome to let me know if they’d prefer me not to use these modified textures.

Nexaga body textures – Replaced by a modified version of the Nearmare body textures. This made them consistent with the other races, thus preventing me from having to draw another set of APP masks for THIGAPPE. This was mostly to conserve on development time while keeping the races’ appearances consistent. I will revert this change if I decide to draw nexaga-specific masks in the future.

East/west hair graphics from all Ayameduki races – More accurately, FAWD replaces the Aya_Race hair textures, then patches every race’s XML to make their hair defs use those textures. These are replaced with Hair Modding Plus-compatible versions, which render the background component of the bangs behind the head. This prevents Facial Animation faces from being covered awkwardly.

Idhale apparel – The east graphic for the idhale undergarments is shifted, as it was off-center.

INSTALLATION AND COMPATIBILITY

FAWD requires Facial Animation to work. Although Facial Animation: Experimentals is not a hard requirement, it’s strongly recommended.

FAWD is designed for use alongside my APP extension, THIGAPPE. Although you can run one without the other, I don’t recommend it. THIGAPPE without FAWD is especially inadvisable. The latter contains graphic offset/scaling patches necessary for some races to look right.

FAWD is presently incompatible with Ayameduki Race Facial Animation (ARFA). You can use FAWD alongside ARFA if you do a bit of file modification, though. Simply go to [version number]>Races in FAWD’s mod files, find the folders named after the Aya races you use, and delete the contents. XML Extensions support is coming soon to make this process more intuitive.

RECOMMENDED MODS
  • Camera+ – How are you gonna look at them faces when your camera’s got an avoidant personality?
  • Dubs Apparel Tweaks – The most compatible of the "show hair under hats" variants.
  • Hair Modding Plus – To support the new Ayameduki east/west hair textures.
  • Revia Race – Facial Animation – If loaded above FAWD, the latter will apply its head size rescalings without overwriting any of the former’s new assets.
  • Facial Animation Astoriel Patch – FAWD’s basic astoriel support is minimal, so the existing patch is best used alongside it if you want the head rescalings.

LICENSING

I deliberately included the most derivative of my textures into FAWD to make the blanket statement that I can’t really license any of them out. They are highly derivative of Facial Animation’s own textures and as such I think it’s unwise to allow people to modify them any further.
