Description

A Dance of Six Legs adds in Insectoid races and civilizations to your worlds, populating it with more raiders, traders and tree-dwelling hippies! As of now, the mod adds in two new civilizations and one new race; The Termidors – termite-men who dwell in the savannah and the shrublands, fighting off their age-old rivals, the evil, bloodthirsty Antmen. Future updates will include Jumping-spider tribes with no access to metal, crab men who fixate on bone, and bee people who make their own surplus of honey!

The Termidors

  • Caste-organized Termite men.
  • Able to produce weapons from wood, to protect the colony in resource-poor areas.
  • Short lifespans are balanced by egg-laying females; Rather than slowly wait thirteen years to get a useful next
generation, have your next generation be born ready for lifelong service!
  • Termites never sleep! Your population will work nigh-continuously for you. A boon to desert-embarks where you don’t want to waste all your precious wood on beds just so your dwarves can be comfy.
  • Depopulate swathes of forests and turn meagre wood into large quantities of stone-like mulch with which to build structures and goods! Rub it in an elf’s face!

The Antmen

  • (As of current, identical to the Termidors and non-playable! Very evil!)

Special thanks to Beep’s Snailing Race, which served as a handy template for this mod! I highly recommend you download it and enable it, to add more invertebrate buddies to your world 😀

    [Important]
-The insect races lay eggs instead of giving birth. In order for the eggs to hatch, they first need to be left undisturbed in an egg box. If they are moved to a stockpile, they won’t be able to hatch (as far as I am aware). Secondly, they need to be fertilized by a male who has married the egg-layer (according to the old DF wiki, anyway)
