History
The bus was made by GMC and there were made exactly 1001 buses of this kind. Because these buses were driving on quite bad roads, through very hot and cold landscape and on dangerous streets, they often had problems. So when GMC stoped to produce spare parts, Greyhound decided to use 500 of them to repair the other 501 buses. Later these busses were sold to other bus companies which also used them for oneother few years. Finally all of them stoped using them after a while. Today there do only exist about like 300 buses anymore.
Funktions
The real bus is about 12,2 meters long. In my creation, 4 Units are one meter, and i tried to do it so through al my work. There are exactly as much seats in my version like in real. I made double tires at the front, too, to get a better steering, but you cant see it. I also made the wheel disk like the real ones.
The original bus has got air suspension and brakes. That means, that you have to wait, untill there is enough pressure to lift the car and disable the brakes. I tried to simulate the air suspension that needs a while to lift the car, but it was lagging when the car became heavier and you hand´t been able to turn anymore. Also, the suspension didn´t worked anymore. So now I have made a completly normal suspension.
The real bus has got a V8, but I used the diesel 6, because the real bus has got a 16-gear transmission! But I think, 8 gears are already too much for auto shift, and there isn´t a good engine simulation in Brick rigs anyways. The bus goes 24 Volt, but needs an extra 12Volt battery to start. You can open the battery holder next to the engine, and the engine grid, too. The top speed of the vehicle is about 140 km/h, just like the real one, too.
Every single seat has got an optimied first person view, especially the driver´s seat. It´s propaply easyer to drive the bus in first person vwiew than in third person! But also the passengers are able to look out of their windows perfectly.
You can enter and walk through the whole bus, but you will only be able to go through the door if the bus is standing exactly straight.
The bus has only one door at the front, thats totaly mechanic, no electric at all. From the outsite, you can only open it a bit so you have to open the rest with your hands, at the inside there is a lever to open it. Both is simulated in my vehicle, including a turnicng lever. Just hold on the button and keep pressing e or q to open and close the door.
The bus has got two big storage spaces and two small for work and security stuff. They are all seperated openable, but in real the big flaps open to the top and to the bottom, but it was to small to do it here, too.
There are headlights, two kind of warning lights and indicators (hold 1/3). Two savety lights are always activated. Also there are interior lights by pressing a button on the left of the driver´s seat, but i highly recomend to swich headlights and interior lights off for driving, otherwise it will propably lag quite much.
Unfortunaly there is no way to put the dog from Greyhound on the bus, these spaces are just white at the moment. But if you found a way to create it, send me and ill mace you to the 2nd author!
For best experiance you shoud use first person mode all the time, it´s not harder than normal driving. But in first person the road looks smaller and the hills look much bigger, nearly like the Route 66 at about Oatman, where I actually drove already. Altough it might not seem so, you can go the canyon route without driving extremly slow and also without tilting over. Just like driving on the real Route 66, where this bus drove. The only problem is the 180° corner on the 2nd uphill part, if you go uphill. You can watch te video where I´m driving down the canyon route.
But you should absoloutly take the bus and go for a ride yourself!
And what I also would like to tell you:
I didn´t chose that bus randomly: We are owning one of the 300 buses of that kind that only exist anymore! You can see it on the pictures!
I hope you enjoy it,
