Ultra Historical Warfare (slower wars)
CORE CHANGES:
– Slower/Expensive/Realistic Wars
– Changes to White Peace values
– Longer Diplomatic Play
– Small Nations realistic "Buff"
– Some changes to UHP Laws
– New Woman Rights Law
COMPATIBILITY: Besides UHP files, this mod changes just a few lines in defines. It was made with compatibility in mind. So, it should be compatible with everything that is also compatible with UHP, even other "warfare" mods that don’t drastically change the vanilla balance.
—————–
This mod will follow the ULTRA HISTORICAL philosophy to slow down battles by approximately 80%, bringing the duration of wars, the number of battles and casualties closer to historical reality.
For example, Brazil’s initial civil wars (Piratini and Para) lasted 10 and 5 years respectively, and this pattern of wars dragging on for years is persistent throughout history. Meanwhile, in vanilla, both rebellions are always defeated in less than 2 years. This does not reflect the reality of guerrilla conflicts that drag on for years, while the invading army’s advance is slow and painful.
With this mod, wars, even against insignificant nations, last at least 4 or 5 years, draining resources and even leading nations to debt, just like in reality, after all, wars have always been expensive, and this is why, in history, big nations don’t just go out invading everything ahead. ♥♥♥♥ the "infamy", wars are EXPENSIVE.
To prolong the wars, punctual changes were made in defines, both to "curb" the armies, and to balance the peace agreements that are initially unwanted, but become progressively more attractive to the AI as the war drags on, thus giving chance to insignificant nations to "win" through guerrilla tactics and exhaustion, rather than always being "run over" by larger powers who only have to pay the price of "infamy" demanded. Obviously, the price paid by small nations is still high, both in lives and in debt.
Another thing that bothers me about vanilla is that small nations are unrealistically more sensitive to casualties than big powers, and this leads to early and easy surrenders. This is because the war support loss calculation is exclusively in percentage ratio between casualties and population. This is historically WRONG! Small nations have much more casualty tolerance than greater powers, sometimes shouldering 20% to 50% of their productive workforce loss in a single war!
To correct this historical disparity, insignificant nations lose 80% less war support due to casualties, and minor nations 40%.
Also, I’ve changed some laws of the UHP mod to make them more realistic (including Army Models), to better reflect the support of interest groups. This mod is therefore a "submod" of UHP.
NOTE: I also added a new law on women’s rights. Its about women under strict religious laws, such as sharia.
