Description:
Summary

Enables cultures like North/South-German or North/South-Italian to organically and gradually merge together into one culture aka. German or just Italian.

Explanation:

After forming a nation like Italy or Germany you unlock a journal entry that triggers the slow transition from the split cultures into one. Each year a small amount of pops will transition from the North and South culture into a syncretic one. The speed of this happening is determined by a variety of factors like literacy, job and available technologies (see the table at the end for more info).

The reasoning behind this is that such cultural change works at different speeds in rural areas compared to the city aswell as between different professions. Your average peasant who doesnt know how to write has little to no pressure or interest to adjust to a newly emerging lead culture. Once he experiences it through radio and movies his outlook might change but it is mostly the young generation that drives this change. And as time goes on it will get harder and harder to reach the last remnants clinging onto the old days. While centers of industry will see fast adaption the rural and poor areas will have more pressing issues than learning the new dictionary.

Conversion calculation:

The conversion happens annually with decreasing effectivness as the base population shrinks as its converted. Leading to something like f(x) = (1-Conversion Base Rate*Multipliers)^Years for the unchanged pops.

So for example of 1000 peasants with a literacy of <40% and no access to media would result in 140 following the new culture while 860 still follow the old one after a conversion duration of 30 years.

So education and and a job that forces pops to adapt to the political and cultural landscape is a big driver in accellerating the assimilation. Better jobs, new techs and higher education will therefore see a faster progression in the lategame.

I am aware that some of you might still find this rate of change to fast but you gotta draw the line somewhere between realistic and immersive. I prefer this gradual transition over the years over just removing cultures.
