What Does it Do?

This mod makes few changes to both cavalry & infantry units as well as general mounts in speed, turn speed, mass and acceleration/deceleration to be better used in battle. Overall, you should experience slightly better maneuverability of all mounts in the game while staying within the base game’s balance.

  • Increases run speed for all horses based on mass.
  • Heavier cavalry units are now better suited for breaking heavy infantry lines and lighter cavalry units for mobile maneuvers.
  • Faster turn speed & acceleration/deceleration for cavalry and infantry units.
  • This mod categorizes the "Ebon Prince" and "Yellow Hoofed Thunder" horse from vanilla correctly.
  • This mod gives "diamond" formation to imperial lancer cavalry & "wedge" formation to imperial household cavalry.

More Details

The Intention of this mod was to keep how statistics worked just as same as vanilla, except make them feel better and more maneuverable.

I have adjusted the values so that light and medium class units are more suitable for mobility style whereas heavy cavalry and cataphract units are better for devastating charges, utilizing their powerful mass and charge speed. After patch 1.7, the collision damage was too nerfed to a point where cavalry’s mass has become somewhat useless, and charge bonus matters more, especially against heavy infantry lines.

In order to address the issue within the base game’s balance without overhauling the collision damage modifiers, I instead chose to reduce the mass difference between infantry to not only make the cavalry’s mass meaningful but also to give them fair chances against cavalry.

With these change, heavy infantry still won’t suffer too much casualties from cavalry charge when braced. However, they will take more damage from rear charges of heavier cavalry units.

As for all the hero related mounts, I reverted the stats to their original acceleration and turn speed (9, 90 respectively) to make them feel really smooth compared to regular horses. General specific mounts such as "Shadow Runner" tend to have slightly better stats than generic unique mounts.
