M1798 Austrian Musket
Screw pan priming, all my homies drill the touch hole wider
This here, I’m rather excited for. Not only is it my first weapon to include a bayonet, but also to have a proper texture map, including ambient occlusion and a bit of shine to it. The weapon seen here is the Austrian Model of 1798, a flintlock musket widely used during the Napoleonic Wars and into the 1830s or 40s, and probably later use by rebel groups. It was inspired by earlier weapons, most notably the French Model 1777 Charleville, a pinnacle of musket design; though with some Austrian touches. The ramrod seat has been widened to more easily return the rammer home, slightly increasing the reload time, as well as this, I’ve read from some sources that the requirement to prime the pan may not have been necessarily needed, while still useful, it offers a unique reload, and it’s hard to really make a lot of unique reloads for muzzle loaders. Also, bear in mind, this is a smoothbore (no rifling), flintlock musket. You will most likely not hit your target, it is not intended to be used as a long-range weapon, but if you do manage to hit something, it’s going to be instantly smited down or at least need an amputation. I had to take some creative liberties when doing the left-hand side of the gun, so I mostly referenced the Charleville musket; this is also a proof of concept for all other future weapon releases regarding the textures, bayonets, and stuff like that (besides maybe the Chassepot), so let me know how it is.
- Includes two weapons, the Austrian Model 1798 and the AI Austrian Model 1798 Bayonet.
- I hope you can read, that last one is not intended for players. There’s no audio to it, it is for the bots as I’m not sure how to get them to use the parented weapon. It is found within the equipment tab
Austrian Model 1798
- 200 Damage
- 12.5 second reload
- 39 spare cartridges
- Muzzle velocity of 500
- Spews out a high degree of smoke, I tried to optimize this the best I could while also making it thick enough to give the impression of an actual battle, where volleys would render people almost blind to what was just a few feet in front of them.
- Found in the Marksman and Napoleonic tabs
The Bayonet Portion
- Press the ‘X’ button to switch to it, the UI also shows this if you have a stark inability to read a description that’s easily laid out for you. If you somehow changed the key binding for X, well, I can’t help you – it’s your rebound key.
- Upon transition, the gun should jiggle and you’ll hear a metal clink. This is to notify you it has transitioned, so don’t whine about why the gun sounds like it’s switching fire modes.
- Deals 75 damage per strike with an effective range of about 5 meters or so

- Verdun
Addons:
- My Napoleonic British skins
- My Napoleonic French skins
- I haven’t done anything to revamp the Napoleonic Austrians yet since I have other stuff to do, but rest assured that’s the next Napoleonic skin that’s coming out.
