Zombie Invasion
When the Huns came, Romans trembled.
When the Mongols came, Europe was terrified.
When the Black Death came, there was not a single person that would not fear the death.
But now… The threat is even bigger.

The Zombie Invasion Mod
[1.19 compatible]
As I have noticed, every game from the Paradox Grand Strategy games has it’s own Zombie mod – HoI 3 has one, CK 2 got a April Fools joke, that got a mod called CK Z, and even Victoria 2 got one mod. However, as I checked, EU IV had no mod about zombies! For sure, many have tried that, but none published it so far. Even some claimed it’s impossible to implement it with it’s game engine.
But I decided, that’s it a good idea to try if it’s really possible or not. And it came out – it is, and it can be fun.
First, it can have fully working zombie horde mechanic, that makes them arrive in random spot around Eurasia in 5 years since the start of the game. So don’t worry, if you don’t see them in your game – you can just restart or wait until they arrive from Terra Incognita with powerful reserves. This mechanic also makes them transfer local manpower into armies (however, due to perfomance issues, Horde is lmited to 500k, because EU IV cannot handle armies very well, slowing games down, so try to always consolidate regiments). After around 15 years however, there are not enough resources in zombie provinces, they start to to turn uncolonised, until there’s nothing left.
Second, over 50 events, some being purely mechanical, but also many flavour ones, adding more fun to the gameplay, and making it simply a better mod.
Thirdly, a bunch of modifiers that vary the gameplay very much, coming from events, and that are a big game changers.
If you can’t download the game from the workshop, have a link below.

I bet nobody made it down here, so let’s do the credits.
Kailvin – thanks to him, the events could get to work, after they caused dozens of CTDs and had no possibility to be fixed
Pietrek – for some really good beta testing and advises about the gameplay
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this compatible with the Extended Timeline?
A: A bit – but it’s better to play the ET version of the mod, released as a separate mod.
Q: How can I play as Zombie Horde?
A: When it appears on the map, you can use the cheat to switch to them (press ` and type tag ZOM into the console), or save game, and then load the save and just click on the Horde as on any other nation.
Q: Where does the Zombie horde spawn? How can I make them spawn in specific location?
They spawn in random province in Eurasia, however they cannot spawn on islands or in nations that are mostly islandic (e.g. England, Japan). If you want them to spawn in desired location – take country you want zombie horde to spawn in, open command console (press `) and type event zi.1. However, it may cause some problems with other events firing, so I won’t claim it’s 100% save.
Q: Do zombies respawn after being defeated?
No, they do not respawn.
Q: I occupied province from the zombies and it became uncolonised! Is it a bug?
It’s not a bug – after the zombie province is occupied, it means the province was cleared out of the zombies and there’s nothing left there, so it turns uncolonised. The same applies after some time, when Zombies have the "Zombie Decline" modifier, that stimulates lack of food for the zombies in the province.
Q: Why can zombies beat armies twice their size?
It’s mostly an engine limitation – you simply cannot give them too many units, as the game will lag terribly, and perfomance will be practically non-existant. You can’t change the size of their regiments either. That’s why, the zombies have to be really powerful, to pose a real threat to the rest of the world. For roleplay values you can multiply their unit size by 10 or 20.
Q: Are other mods compatible?
A: Probably most of the mods is compatible, however I don’t guarantee it. The graphical mods and extra event ones should be fine. I’m not sure however on the other big mods, like MEIOU or VeF. Also, interface mods can cause some issues.
Q: Zombies got destroyed really quickly, what should I do?
A: The chances of it are fairly low, however it’s still possible, so I recommend restart.
Q: What about DLCs? Is any of them required?
A: No, no DLC is required, only Common Sense is recommended for increasing manpower in colonial provinces, after zombies depleted it.
Q: I don’t have any trade goods in recolonised provinces. What’s happening?
It was probably the biggest bug after release, caused by the fact, that after turning into uncolonised, the province lost it’s trade good, and the trade events for EU IV would only work for the vanilla empty provinces. Fortunately, it has been fixed, and if you’re still experiencing it I recommend you redownloading the mod.
