PBD – Cho’s Boss Reworks
This mod is a standalone version of Cho’s Boss Reworks rebalanced for PBD.
Please give me feedback on the balance! It’s very hard to balance something well without multiple sources of meaningful feedback.
I’ve reworked 8 of the base bosses found in the Cove, Ruins, Warrens & Weald. These aren’t simple numerical adjustments to make the fights harder/longer, instead, I’ve expanded upon the main gimmicks of each boss creating new skills and mechanics for the bosses to use. In some cases I’ve completely reworked the fight from ground up, while still keeping the core gimmick of the boss intact.
The fights are going to be slightly harder, as the bosses have less weaknesses and have more ways to deal with the heroes. To compensate for the increase in difficulty, the rewards for killing bosses have also been changed. Now they drop 1/2/3 Rubies as well as a random trinket, which is generally going to be of a high rarity.
I’ve made some changes to the fights since the individual mods, which are only present in this mod. The balance of each fight has been adjusted and Veteran/Champion versions of the bosses have gained new features, so that the fight won’t be the exact same all 3 times.
This is the PBD version, which means that each bosses’ stats have been tuned up to PBD’s standards and they have affixed versions which you can spawn for extra loot.
I’ll go over very briefly the major changes I’ve made to each boss fight, trying not to spoil much.
- Necromancer now has 3 phases, which change based on his HP
- Instead of summoning his skeletons individually, he will now summon a set of predetermined skeletons when his phase changes
- He directs the summoned skeletons’ attacks with marks and resurrects them, until the final phase in which he tries his best to stay alive or take you down with him
Prophet only gained a few additions since I really enjoyed the vanilla fight as is.
- He will gain a small amount of prot and dodge when hit that only lasts until his next turn to reflect his resilience
- You’ll lose stun & blight resistances from a few different sources during the fight
- He will prophecise your End, which will come true if you don’t kill him quick enough
- A few new skills have been added, but they are only used under certain specific conditions
- Not only does she taste the Stew occasionally, she also force feeds it to your heroes causing horror and blight
- Season to Perfection now marks the hero it targets and on her next action she will cook that hero
- Hag gains a small amount of HP every turn when the cauldron is full, similar to the Drowned Crew
- Cauldron will topple at the end of each round when empty
Pounder summons different fusemen with different qualities to them e.g. more speed or stealth.
Each fuseman uses the cannon in a different way, resulting in different effects and damage on the cannon shot.
- Wilbur has new tactics up his sleeve and can command the Swine King with new mark skills
- Wilbur’s screech after the Swine King is below 50% HP will make your heroes nervous, causing shuffling and stress over time
- Swine King will become enraged below 25% HP even while Wilbur is alive, recklessly attacking your heroes and stunning Wilbur
- Chain stunning has been removed from both the Swine King and Wilbur, by decreasing their stun chances each time they use their stunning moves
- Each of Flesh’s different forms has gained multiple new skills to use
- Hitting the Flesh causes it to lose protection while buffing it in some other way depending on it’s current form
- Different ranks of Flesh start with specific buffs
- The effects of Siren’s skills change based on the light level (varying debuffs/dots/buffs)
- Siren Song becomes more effective each time it’s used
- Beguiling Song, one of her new skills, will either stun the target or make them more susceptible to her other songs depending on the light level
- Siren will lure someone to guard her when her HP gets low
- The three Crew members each take their turns in order
- Gaffer Hook does high damage attacks with his hook, the Captain debuffs & stresses heroes with his calls for mutiny and the Drunkard inflicts a random set of debuffs with it’s Drink with the Dead skill
- Crew’s HP is doubled, but he will no longer gain 50% prot when someone is anchored. Instead, he will take 33% more damage
- Killing the Drowned Anchor when it has someone anchored will permanently debuff the Crew with -25% Healing Received
Above PBD and anything that edits the bosses in any way, such as adding loot to them or anything else.
