Object Explorer allows inspection of objects and components in a scene during runtime. This is a must-have for serious mod development; you can easily find what you need to change to make a mod work, and also debug the mod easily once it’s up and running.

Press Ctrl + ~ (or Ctrl + `) to open Object Explorer.

Press F11 to take a transparent screenshot.
(Transparent screenshots are stored in Besiege/Besiege_data/Mods/Data/ObjectExplorer_…..)

if the keybinds don’t work, you can now change mod keybinds in the game settings.

Hover over icon buttons to see what they do.

You can find usage instructions in the User Manual[gitlab.com].

  • Disable: Ice layer
  • Disable: Barren fog/sky
  • Disable: Translate gizmo ground part

  • Placement: Grid-aligned water cannons
  • Placement: Minimum surface node grid size
  • Other: Hide mouse cursor with HUD
  • Other: Screenshot scale
  • Other: Gravity (in m/s²)

Enviroment Control

For now, at least, Object Explorer is the light, fog, and skybox mod.
Detailed instructions are in the user manual. See what you can come up with.

You will need to install Skybox Packs.

Bugs

If you manage to delete Besiege, wipe your cloud storage, and/or set off the entire Russian nuclear arsenal by accident, please report it in the comments.

If some values behave unpredictably or don’t change, something else is controlling them. Or you put in something invalid.
