Description:

Let me ask you something? What would you like to do this evening?

Would you like to take a ride? Grab a cup of coffee at your local Polaris Gamma station? Maybe chat to that guard who wears armour you can’t buy anywhere, even from the Cousin… but who always smiles at you and has some uselessinteresting rumours?

Or maybe drop by Uncle Joe’s Colonist Scrapyard to check if he’s peddled away those second rate but very legally procured thrusters you sold him last week, and if he is ready to buy more?

Oh, but you haven’t got any more… would you like to go get some? Hit a couple pirate boats, maybe drop by a nearby outpost on your way back, remind the locals who’s in town?

Or have you had a really tough day at work and just want to blow up a Zirax patrol vessel or two while picturing your boss at the helm?

No, no. This is not you – in the universe so beautiful, you can always find something else, some great view to calm your nerves. Like a sunrise on the beach on that ocean planet, you passed by last week. Or maybe that frozen peak with a great view at night? Or maybe, all you need is just a couple of hours of mining, some light music, and a can of your favourite? You don’t need that rock, not too much of it anyway – you just want to be certain what your next two hours hold in store for you.

Or you don’t – you want adventure. You want to visit new worlds tonight, land on that pretty moon, venture inside an abandoned POI, fight some spiders like you are back in that Unreal II game you miss playing so much, and hunt for artifacts, that don’t do anything and mostly look like trash? You hold your breath every time your detector plonks and reaches out into the unknown. And your heart beats for that “you’ve discovered…” message?

Most importantly, would you like to do all of that – in style?

MCI Shipyards presents – just what you need! A chassis inspired by the Aegis Avenger Titan from Star Citizen Universe and adapted to work in EGS+RE, and with an interior invented to accommodate survival functionality and customisation.

Reasonably affordable, unlock lvl20 (I am sure you never want to see another wooden log ever again in your life!), agile, armed, versatile, upgradeable. Has everything you need for a comfortable voyage and a space to bring souvenirs back. Undeniably good looking, elegant, evocative. And all yours. The ship you never knew existed, but always wanted to fly. The single-seater Star Hopper! The Space Penguin!

Reforged Eden ONLY! the ship is practically built out of the scenario-specific solid sloped ramps.

Features:

– Core 9, unlock level 20

– 87 t, 18.5m long, fits into a 9-wide hangar door, mixed Carbon, Steel, Hardened Steel and Combat Steel hull

– 4x Minigun Turrets – slaved to PDC Grid custom signal

– 5x Plasma Cannons – two embedded, behind shutters, slaved to Offensive custom signal

– 5 kL Ammunition Box

– Standard Shield Generator with parts providing 3885 shield HP with 25 seconds spool up time and charging from 10 to 100% in 30 seconds

– Jump Drive

– Detector (mounted under the left wing) – recommended to upgrade to Long-Range Radar as soon as you can get your hands on the upgrade kit

– 9 kL Storage Controller, 4 kL Harvest Controller – if you decide to strap on some industrial multitools or mining drill lasers

– Food processor, Constructor, Fridge – slaved to the Survival Kit custom signal

– Trauma Station (behind an orange shutter), Armour Locker and Oxygen Station

– Wi-Fi

– Smart Landing Lights

– All parts are accessible for upgrades/replacement via shutters in the interior

– Requires 800 Zascosium and Erestum, but requirements can be lowered to 335 each if you strip Plasma Cannons

– Comes in two colours: White and Black, and Blue and Gold (link below).

Upgrades:

– Space for 8 Auxiliary/Quantum cores – place around the Core in the dedicated compartment – behind the shutter door just past the O2 station on the left. To access the empty spaces to the sides or above the core, line up to place new core below, then press PgUP once to place cores on the sides or twice to place the cores above the main Core

– Space for 2 more fixed weapons under the wing on the mounts – remove the two thin cover blocks above the mounts, place weapons or industrial tools, slave to Offensive or a new custom Signal

– Embedded weapon slots are 6-block long, so any SV weapons can be placed instead of the plasma cannons in every slot

– Long Range Radar – place instead of the decorative Radar Dish on the top of the ship, slave to the Long-Range Radar custom signal, remove the Detector

– Heavy Shield Generator – upgrade the Standard Shield Generator, accessible via the ramp on the ceiling interior with your multitool.

Penguin is combat tested and capable, most fragile exterior parts are insulated to prevent cascading, but it is a shield tanker and is not designed to take hull damage. With Plasma Cannons, decent both against shields and hull in early to mid-game, Penguin can take on most OPVs in common space. Sunats, Periats and their Al’-versions are relatively easy, heavier targets like Imerats should be approached with caution. Penguin does not strafe too well but turns great even under load and is designed for no-auto-break flat orbit, agile combat. Do not stay still and take frontal damage – even with Heavy Shield you will not last long – not until you install extra A-cores and extra shield parts.

Extra weapon mounts can be used to upgrade your damage output. End-game anti-capital-ship load-out would ideally be 5x Gamma/Infrared Modulated Lasers and 2x Torpedo Launchers. Turrets can be upgraded as desired. 8 A-cores will additionally allow installation of a progenitor shield generator and short range warp drive.

Alternatively, weapons can be swapped for mining lasers – available storage will allow you to bring home quite a bit if you go light.

Finally, Penguin comes standard in the White and Black colour scheme, but is also available in Blue and Gold here:
