Description:
Features

The Chosen Hunter tends to be the least effective of the vanilla Chosen at what the Chosen are designed to do. His map ability, Tracking Shot, is barely disruptive at all, and the antisynergy between the melee Extract Knowledge ability and his long range fighting style make it quite difficult for him to capture soldiers compared to Warlock or Assassin. What he’s very good at is accidentally wiping your squad before he can capture anyone, especially with how lethal his Bleeding Rounds are against early game soldiers.

This mod makes two changes to the Hunter’s abilities to address this.

  • Tracking Shot is reversed: it now triggers if you move. Stay still!
    • Tracking Shot now works like suppression without the aim penalty: if you move, the Hunter will fire. This makes his map disruption ability much more dangerous: an effectively immobilised soldier can’t reposition away from flanks, move for better shots or run for objectives.
  • The Hunter’s attacks now inflict Dazed instead of Bleeding.
    • The frustrating Bleeding Rounds are gone: the Hunter’s now taken a leaf out of the Assassin’s book and equipped some new Concussion Rounds. These rounds have a 50% chance to Daze their target on a hit.

Configuration

All this mod’s changes are configurable in the .ini files. If you just want the Concussion Rounds, you can turn off the changes to Tracking Shot. If you just want the Tracking Shot changes, you can delete the Hunter’s new loadout to get the Bleeding Rounds back. You can also configure the duration and proc chance of the daze effect on them.

Compatibility

This mod should be fine to install and uninstall mid-campaign.

This mod should work with most Chosen overhauls, although it may override the Will reduction A Better Chosen adds to Tracking Shot Mark. If another mod changes the Chosen Hunter’s loadout you may need to do a little .ini tweaking to add the Concussion rounds to that mod.
