DUWS_X – Dynamic Universal War System XTRA

Classic DUWS (Kibot plus DUWS-R) with a 80% code re-write, including extra features, bug fixes, dedicated server.

WARNING: I mean no disrespect but, this is not a scenario for ARMA noobs.

DUWS_X is a dynamic sandbox, Sector Control mission generator (not a mod). Pick your factions, plop down a HQ, choose your campaign parameters, generate the enemy zones then go kick some @$$. Execute side missions and gain resources to help friendly forces capture the enemy zones. Play the way you want: be a Lone Wolf, a Group Leader or control a small army, the choice is yours.

We created a DISCORD server for DUWS_X. A place to talk about ARMA and DUWS or whatever. It’s also a place to find other players and servers.

FAQ

– NO MODS REQUIRED. Most Vanilla factions are playable.
– PLAY ON ANY MAP. See the Discussions tab on OTHER MAPS.
– This is not a mod, it’s a mission/scenario.
– SAVING sessions? Use the PBO. No dedi save.
– Yes, it works with ACE and lots of other mods.
– Yes, you can play as Ukraine vs Russia. (RHS PrOpfor mod)
– Let me know if my factions are derpy.
– Please report BUGS or Problems on the "Discussions" page or Discord channel.
– Provide some context. Factions, Mods, SP or MP, Map
– If you post a comment like "it doesn’t work for me" your comment will be ignored.
– Always remember…if it borks with mods, try again with Vanilla.
– If you’re stuck on the map or you get a black screen after HQ/Zone placement, it’s probably a missing faction mod. Check the list of mods required for each faction.
– If any of your friendly troops are killing each other, let me know.

HOW TO PLAY

I recommend the Default Parameters until you figure out how you want to play.

Play SMALL. DUWS_X is for small scale warfare, not whole island warfare. 8-10 zones max. 1000m max radius. 10km zone/mission max distance from HQ.

This version of DUWS has a re-worked FACTION system. You (BLUFOR) can play as ANY faction and OPFOR can be ANY faction. If you want to play as CSAT(blue) vs CSAT(red) or Russian MSV(blue) versus Russian VDV(red) then go right ahead. This scenario is agnostic to the side that factions are assigned in CfgVehicle.

SAVING
– I suggest using the PBO if you want to save sessions. Don’t use the Steam version.
– Use (0,8) SITREP to enable saving. SP and MP (no dedi save). Uses Vanilla ARMA save.
– The more Zones, FOBs, Units, Vehicles and Mods you load, the more likely your SAVE will be corrupted.
– Steam/ARMA updates will bork a saved game. Disable updates when saving games (schedule when PC sleeps).
– Mods will bork a saved game. If you exit ARMA make sure you reload the exact same mods as the saved game or it wont show RESUME.
– Saving in MP: only Alpha 1-1 (host) can save. All players should disconnect before Alpha 1-1 does Save/Exit. JIP players will lose purchased supports on any game exit. I don’t know how to save these. You can save MP sessions on dedicated if you suspend/hibernate/sleep the server after everyone exits.

REVIVE / RESPAWN – AIS Revive script
– SP has AIS Revive by default. All Players and group AI can revive. Press H to call help or (‘6’ menu, "Treat Squad Leader") also works. Requires a First Aid Kit or Medikit. Always do ‘Regroup’ if AI ignore you.
– Operators are Revivable, not grunts.
– MP has AIS Revive, Vanilla or None (MP params).
– AIS should disable itself if ACE is detected.
– For other Revive systems, you can disable AIS in the MP params lobby
– RESPAWN is Vanilla. MP only. Respawn at HQ, FOBs, MHQ or Spawn Tents

OTHER FEATURES
– Civilian Presence with reputation system. Endgame for CIV deaths and building damage
– Mobile HQ for mobile respawn and ammobox
– 11 Side Missions. Mission Cancel option on HQ menu.
– Zeus for Host/Alpha 1-1. Disable in Environment Params.
– R3F Logistics for picking up objects, builder vehicle for deploying static objects like fortifications.
– Random Zones spawn closer to towns, factories and military sites.
– Option for Random Zones to spawn in 135 deg arc for more linear campaign
– Hardcore Mode with hidden zones. Reveal by finding Intel in missions/zones or entering a hidden zone.
– Option to Extend the campaign if you start with 1 or 2 zones. Visit the HQ officer.
– Faction limited Arsenal. Disable in enviro menu
– Paste a Custom Faction in-game using the CUSTOM FACTION option
– 20 slots for MP Group Leaders. 16 slots for grunts.
– All Group Leaders have Universal Soldier (Engineer, Medic, UAV Hacker).
– Changed all enemy zone spawns to wait until "blufor near".
– AI commanders get aircraft and more armor at higher AP levels and larger zones.
– Enemy units can occupy random buildings within 150m of zone center
– VCOM AI script built-in for AI driving and simple aggressive tactics
– Simple enemy outposts available for zone placement in map structures

MULTIPLAYER LAN / DEDICATED SERVER

Alpha 1-1 must be LAN host. Only Alpha 1-1 can place the HQ and request missions. All JIP Group Leaders can Request Units/Vehicles/Supports. Command Points are shared. Some Supports are not shared. Saving in Multiplayer/LAN (not dedicated).

Dedicated server has persistence. No Saving. Once Alpha 1-1 starts the mission all players may leave/rejoin and the AI will continue fighting each other. HC squads will revert to TaskForces if you disconnect/reconnect on dedi server. You can save MP sessions on dedicated if you suspend/hibernate/sleep the server after everyone exits.
