On Steam Workshop

Description:

Are you in search of a yacht that can take on any challenge as well as provide the best in comfort?

If so, then I introduce to you The Providence. My turn-of-the-century exploration steam yacht.

Whether it’s sailing to the unknown regions of the map or entertaining high profile guests, The Providence has your back, as it has had mine quite a few times! Offering only the finest in accommodations, this elegant vessel boasts 4 guest cabins, as well as 3 more for your captain and crew. She also offers a large hold in the bow for storage of any necessities for your trip, and averages 24 knots flat out so you can get to your destination fast. The Providence also has streamlined mechanics allowing for a single operator if you prefer sailing alone.

While this yacht doesn’t have all the toys of other yachts on the workshop, you can enjoy the simplicity of returning to the golden age of ship travel and not have to hassle with tenders, jet skis, or helicopters. Instead immerse yourself in the rich interior paneling, and exquisite attributes of sailing in the Gilded Age. The ship does have however numerous anchor points for your other vessels to tie onto if you want to tow them along.

Mechanics:

To start, head down to the boiler room and ignite the single boiler. Then move over to the engine room and engage the electric booster motor to get the pistons moving (it only needs ~20% to engage with steam, but extra throttle allows for more realistic rpms) naturally steam pressure will build and the triple expansion engine will move on its own.

You might notice something interesting in the engine room, a pair of generators instead of a drive shaft! The Providence happens to have a state-of-the-art electric propulsion system that uses electricity from the generators in the engine room. This means that if you don’t want to bother with the steam system, you can motor out of any harbor on the responsive control of two electric motors driving the propeller. NOTICE! If you are using the steam engine, make sure to engage the Generator Clutch behind the instrument panel, or you won’t get any power! But to get the most out of the system, I suggest keeping Infinite Electricity ON.

There is several other operable systems on the ship, from a radio from RandomThingsPosted, to automatic anchors from GBDanny96 that make voyages easier and safer for you and your guests. Speaking of safety, The Providence has two fully controllable lifeboats that I use often as launches to explore islands too shallow for Providence herself (The controls are placed on the davits). She also features a salvaged 17th century naval canon removed from an Arabian wreck in the Mediterranean, which can be rotated and fired from convenient controls; not to mention a powerful telescoping crane to lift cargo in and out of the hold. Also located in the forward hold is a small kennel for your four-legged compatriots. In case your voyages run into "setbacks" there is a conveniently placed ‘panel’ located by the aft staircase that may assist with your problems.

One last thing, there recently was added a lua billiards table made by Tajin, so as to better pass the time in-between stops.

Happy Sailing!
