Free German Youth Flag (FDJ) East Germany

The FDJ was the youth organization from East Germany, intended to be the "reliable assistant and fighting reserve of the Worker’s Party", while Socialist Unity Party of Germany was a member of the National Front and had representatives in the People’s Chamber. The political and ideological goal of the FDJ was to influence every aspect of life of young people in the GDR, distribute Marxist–Leninist teachings and promote communist behavior.Membership in the FDJ was nominally voluntary.

Die FDJ war die Jugendorganisation der DDR, die „zuverlässiger Helfer und Kampfreserve der Arbeiterpartei“ sein sollte, während die Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands Mitglied der Nationalen Front war und in der Volkskammer vertreten war. Das politische und ideologische Ziel der FDJ bestand darin, jeden Aspekt des Lebens junger Menschen in der DDR zu beeinflussen, marxistisch-leninistische Lehren zu verbreiten und kommunistisches Verhalten zu fördern. Die Mitgliedschaft in der FDJ war nominell freiwillig.
