Everyone loves Yongle. He’s certainly a fun take on China. But it does feel a little like a missed opportunity. Lijia is just the taxation/corvee system used by the entire Ming Dynasty. But the Yongle emperor did so much during his reign! He compiled the largest encyclopedia ever (until it was beaten by Wikipedia), he sent forth a Treasure Fleet to collect tribute from all over Asia and Africa, he rebuilt the Grand Canal…
Let’s pause there for a moment. Canals. Everyone loves Yongle. Everyone loves Canals. So what if we put them together?
YongleUnique Ability: Grand CanalCanals are unlocked with Masonry; give +2 Housing, +1 Amenity; and receive +2 Food, +2 Gold for each adjacent district or wonder. Commercial Hubs provide Food equal to their adjacency bonus.
In cities with 10 or more Population; receive +0.5 Science, +0.5 Culture per Citizen; and all districts with a Gold adjacency generate Tourism equal to that adjacency bonus once Flight is unlocked.
The UA is a little bloated of course, I probably should have shunted all the Canal bonuses to a Unique District, but I honestly couldn’t be bothered to make the art for it. Lijia has been removed. As cool as it is, the UA is powerful and bloated enough without even more bonuses!
