Do you want yourself and your courtiers to be stronger, but don’t want that strength to be unearned or handed to you on a platter?

This mod adds new tiers of strength, and the ability to make yourself and your courtiers – male, female or all – train to obtain them at the cost of stress gain and (slight) injury risk!

Also you can make it available to AI: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2949470635&searchtext=strength+training

Traits

Strength traits:

  • Strengthened: +2 prowess
  • Greatly Strengthened: +4 prowess
  • Vastly Strengthened: +6 prowess

You can only have one of these traits at a time, but can have any at the same time as the Strong trait. This means up to +10 prowess from training.
Prestige if in a strength-valuing culture and health boost still apply, too.

Mechanic traits:

  • Self Training: Strengthening Mechanic for self.
  • Training Courtiers: Strengthening Mechanic for all courtiers.
  • Training Men: Strengthening Mechanic for male courtiers.
  • Training Women: Strengthening Mechanic for female courtiers.
  • Athletic*: Strengthening Mechanic for self, but without stress impact.

These are gained and lost using decisions, except for Athletic, which can be lost by decision but not gained.
*The Athletic trait itself is not altered, so this will not cause compatibility problems. The Strengthening Mechanic just checks if Athletic is there, and fires if it is. It doesn’t create risk of injury.

Strengthening Mechanic

Every year, someone who is training will gain stress and has a chance for the following to happen. The further along a character is the lower their chance of getting stronger. It’s also possible to get weaker, but odds of that happening are low.

  • Gain the Athletic trait (if not already present). The chance for this is separate to the rest in this list, and so may not happen at the same time.
  • Lose the Weak trait, if present.
  • Gain the Strong trait, if not Weak or Strong.
  • Gain the Strengthened trait, if already Strong.
  • Turn the Strengthened trait into the Greatly Strengthened trait, if already Strengthened.
  • Turn the Greatly Strengthened trait into the Vastly Strengthened trait, if already Greatly Strengthened.

Do remember that the prowess-reducing genetic traits (delicate, frail, feeble) prevent gaining the Strong trait. For this reason, they also prevent gaining the Strengthened traits, as these require the Strong trait to be obtained.

There is a small risk of being wounded from training. Courtiers will not train while wounded, and so automatically don’t risk worsening their wounds. You can still train while wounded, but risk worsening your wounds.

Compatibility

Should be compatible with everything.
Only adds things. Doesn’t alter or remove anything in the base game. Getting the strengthening traits doesn’t mean losing the Strong trait, so any functions from other mods using it should work just fine and dandy.

My youtube channel will sometimes get videos relating to my mods but it’s mostly videos about some books I’m writing. As far as I’m aware copyright-wise I can’t make mods of the stuff in said books without giving up said copyright.
