Etruscan Unit Expansion Pack
Don’t forget to thumbs up!
This is a unit expansion pack for the Etruscan League faction in Total War: Rome 2. The default Etruscan roster is quite bare, and more importantly, all Italian, which is very historically inaccurate, as the Etruscans were not an Italian people, but a genetically unique people in Italy with their own unique culture and unique military system. This was not represented by Creative Assembly, and this mod seeks to rectify that.
All units are balanced by Vanilla standards, and the mod fits seamlessly in to the Vanilla game.
It’s time to take up the Spear and take back what is rightful Etruscan Clay from those upstart Romans!
-Adds 14 completely new land units
-Adds 6 completely new naval units
-Adds many new historical equipment models to give the Etruscans a unique look
-Reconfigures the pre-existing units into auxiliaries
-Unlocks the Roman style auxiliary system for the Etruscan League
Historical Units
11 of the 14 new units are completely historical and extensively researched by me. Their appearance and stucture is as true to history as is possible within the limits of this game. The military system of the Etruscans was mainly composed of 5 wealth based classes of troops, which are the first 6 in order in this list (slingers and archers would be combined historically, naturally I cannot do that in Rome 2). Outside of these, other more specialised units existed, heavily influenced by the Greeks and Romans. For more historical information, read the in game unit descriptions.
Etruscan Hoplites – Eturia’s best spear troops, well armoured, defensive fighters, great morale.
Etruscan Spearmen – Good all round spearmen, good armour but nothing special.
Etruscan Reservists – Weak spearmen but cheap, good for garrisons and, well, reserve troops :p
Etruscan Levy Skirmishers – Typical javelin skirmishers, slightly better melee than is usual.
Etruscan Levy Slingers – Average slingers, nothing special
Etruscan Levy Archers – Average archers, nothing special
Etruscan Swordsmen – Good swordsmen, akin to Roman Hastati, they fill an offensive role
Etruscan Citizen Cavalry – Acceptable medium cavalry, similar to Greek Citizen Cavalry
Etruscan Light Cavalry – Mounted Skirmishers, above average melee, lightly armoured.
Etruscan Axemen – Great shock infantry, lacking shields, good armour, deadly 2handed axes.
Etruscan Marines – Land version of the naval unit, acceptable swordsmen, lightly armoured.
Hypothetical Units
3 of the 14 new units are not historical, but are still realistic and plausible. They are designed for the late game, where the Etruscan league has extended beyond what it did historically, resulting in the creation of new, standardized units. They are what the Etruscan League probably would have made, had they grown into a larger empire.
Etruscan Legionaries – Excellent, well trained heavy infantry, swords, good morale.
Etruscan Legionary Cavalry – Great cavalry, excellent all round but not specialised. Good morale.
Kings Guard – Personal army of the Etruscan King, these are the finest fighters in Eturia.
Naval Units
Two variants of each totaling 6 new units.
Etruscan Marines – An 80 man small ship version, and a 160 man large ship version
Etruscan Legionaries – An 80 man small ship version, and a 160 man large ship version
Etruscan Archers – An 80 man small ship version, and a 160 man large ship version

You can play the Etruscan League in custom battle with just this mod.
To play as the Etruscan League in the Campaign, you will need a faction unlock mod. I recommend this one. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=187373962
