Manic’s Expanded Factions (Pack 3)
Do NOT run any of them together!
Welcome to the third pack for Manic’s Expanded Factions!
This is the third and final part of the Manic’s Expanded Factions mod, adding the remaining factions that weren’t included in the previous two. Due to the sheer number of them, the vast majority of the factions in this pack are part of the Gaelic group. Sooo many Irish minors!
KNOWN ISSUE: Due to a mysterious bug or oversight with the Scottish sub-culture, opening the faction overview tab to view your family tree/governors/estates etc. as Athfochla or Fortriu will cause a CTD. I have no idea what is causing this and I cannot fix it. My apologies!
MAIN MOD ( PACK 2 | PACK 3 )
12TPY VERSION ( PACK 2 | PACK 3 )
EMERGENT FACTIONS MINI-MOD (BATTLES ONLY)
- Holdrness – A vassal of Northymbre in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
- Steinnborg – Stamford. One of the Five Boroughs of the Danelaw.
- Grantebru – Cambridge. Located in the far south of the Danelaw and is almost entirely enveloped by East Engle.
- Airgialla – Starts as a vassal of Aileach. Bordered by its overlord to the north and Ulaid to the east. Most of its neighbours, aside from Brega to the far south, are either allied to or a similar strength to Airgialla.
- Athfochla – One of the Pictish kingdoms and the only one that begins landlocked. The mountainous nature of its starting location can provide a great natural defence against the hostile Viking factions with which it shares a long border to the west. KNOWN ISSUE: Opening this faction’s overview screen (family tree/governors etc.) will crash your game!
- Brega – A tiny Irish faction that seemingly exists only to be eaten by neighbouring Dyflin. Show the developers what a competant human can do with this blatant Viking fodder!
- Breifne – A very long and thin Irish faction with many neighbours that are of equal or superior strength. Expect difficulty defending all of your territory if you end up in a multi-front war early.
- Fortriu – The second Pictish faction. Is almost entirely surrounded by hostile Viking factions with limited options for quick and easy expansion. Expect to be largely on the defensive in the early game. There’s no shame in turtling! KNOWN ISSUE: Opening this faction’s overview screen (family tree/governors etc.) will crash your game!
- Iarmuma – Starts as one of the many vassals of Caisil in the southernmost area of Ireland. Only options for early expansion are the Viking outposts of Hlymrekr and Myrrborg.
- Osraige – A tough Irish faction that starts between Laigin to the east, Caisil and its many vassals to the west, Mide to the north and the Norse outposts of Veisafjordr and Vedrafjordr to the south. It also starts landlocked which further limits its opportunity for expansion.
- Tuadmuma – Yet another ‘muma’ and vassal of Caisil. Starts in a relatively defensible position and borders Hlymrekr for a relatively easy early option for expansion. Other than Hlymrekr and its fellow vassals, its only other neighbour is the powerful faction of Connacht to the north.
- Gwent – The only Welsh faction in this pack. The smallest and most vulnerable of them. Starts with only a single province (province, not region!), is bordered on all sides by neighbours that are much more powerful and is a vassal of West Seaxe. Probably one of the most challenging starts in Thrones of Britannia!
