Early American Electrics

These versatile locomotives were originally designed to haul passenger trains in the PRR’s newly electrified lines in the East. After being supplanted in that role by the GG1 the P-5a’s were regeared and became the mainstay electric freight locomotive on the PRR from the 1940’s to early 60’s when they were replaced by the E44.

What’s in the pack:

Four versions of the P-5a with two road numbers each.

  • Boxcab as delivered for passenger service.
  • "Modified" streamlined, center cab version representative of the last 28 units delivered.
  • Freight versions of both the Boxcab and Modified variants with lower gearing and simplified paint schemes.
