EMC E2 V2.0
I promised it, and I delivered!
The new EMC E2, with all iterations, and even some fantasy!
I apologize in advance for the file size.
In the tail end of the depression when things were kicking up in Europe, streamliners were at the heat of their popularity. In 1937, a joint effort between Union Pacific, Southern Pacific, and Chicago Northwestern conceived this oddity, the E2. Before the 567’s, these carried twin Winton type engines, the last in the E-series to have them. Two A units and 4 B units were made, with a ABB format for the City of Los Angeles and City of San Francisco. The former Southern Pacific did not partake in. Sometime around 1939, the three companies did a national tour for the trains.
In 1946, EMD made several visual changes to them at LaGrange, with larger numberboards and a second headlight most notably. In late 1948, the joint venture was disbanded. Former LA-1 went to CNW becoming #5003A (which was destroyed several years later in a head on collision) while former SF-1 went to SP and was renumbered twice, first being #6011a and then in 1950 again becoming #6017. Eventually it would be overhauled and remade into an E7.
