The Lehigh Valley’s premier passenger service, the Black Diamond, had several Pacific type 4-6-2’s that were streamlined to help drive popularity.The Lehigh Valley’s premier passenger service, the Black Diamond, had several Pacific type 4-6-2’s that were streamlined in the hard times of the 30s to help drive popularity. They were designed by Otto Kuhler and had sister units, K5’s streamlined in the John Wilkes scheme which ran in northern PA.

Lehigh Valley was famous for shipping coal, which helped initiate the name "Black Diamond" which ran from NYC to Buffalo, NY through the New York and Pennsylvania mountains.
