Description:

The Pennsylvania Railroad’s K4 4-6-2 "Pacific" (425 built 1914–1928, PRR Altoona, Baldwin) was their premier passenger-hauling steam locomotive from 1914 through the end of steam on the PRR in 1957. There are only two surviving K4s class locomotives; Number 3750, as of 2021, sits on outdoor static display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania outside of Strasburg, Pennsylvania. The museum’s volunteer group plans to have 3750 cosmetically restored prior to it being placed in a planned roundhouse. Number 1361 was restored for operation by the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona in 1987 but persistent bearing problems ended its operation the following year. The locomotive was moved to the Steamtown National Historic Site and the boiler moved to the East Broad Top shops. The disassembled locomotive laid in pieces for 22 years before the project was officially abandoned in 2010. The Museum cited changes in FRA safety standards and new limits to mainline railway access that would make operation impractical. In May 2018 a group of preservationists, engineers and financial backers initiated a new restoration study. The work would include a detailed assessment of the engineering needs and a sustainable operating plan. The group plans to replicate a 1940s Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train. It would work with the state’s educators to give rides at tourist railroads within the state to school children on field trips, thus educating them on the history of how the Pennsylvania Railroad shaped their state.

Hello everyone!
This is the last of the models that I’ve had backlogged from before the modding update came around. This specific mod was a collaboration between me and Koko. Big thanks to Koko for making the models, I animated them and ported them over to the new modding system. This is the first batch of K4s I plan on releasing, the second part will include the streamliners and should be released in a few weeks. Anyways that’s all for now, I’m going to be very busy with part 2 of this pack in the next few weeks so say tuned. I hope you enjoy the K4s!

Cheers! :hearts:

Pennsylvania Railroad K4 Patch Notes – July 16, 2022

This is an important patch with loads of fixes to the K4s. Originally this patch was going to be included with the streamlined variants but was pushed out early due to a bug that needed immediate attention. The streamlined K4s will begin development once the T1 is released, which will be before the end of the month. I haven’t forgotten about the streamlined K4s, I know a lot of you are excited for them, but please remember that I can only work on one thing at a time so please be patient!

Bug Fixes

General

  • Fixed a bug with the Locomotive and Tender offsets, couplers, wheels, and lengths causing them to clip inside other wagons.
  • Removed an accidental floating bit of the valve gear
  • Tweaked the position of the smoke effects due to a side effect from fixing the Locomotive offsets
  • Moved the player spawn offset to be more inside the cab
