Національна бібліотека України імені Вернадського — головна академічна бібліотека та головний науково-інформаційний центр України, одна з найбільших національних бібліотек світу. Бібліотека має найповніше зібрання слов’янської писемності, архіви видатних світових і українських учених і діячів культури. У фонді – колекція президентів України, архівні примірники українських друкованих документів 1917 року, архів Національної академії наук України. Будівля була побудована в бруталістичному стилі між 1975 і 1989 роками. Вона має загалом 27 поверхів, що охоплюють центральну вежу заввишки 76,7 метрів, де зберігається основна колекція. У будівлі також є кілька читальних залів, більшість із яких прикрашені мансардними вікнами, які дозволяють читати під київським небом замість люмінесцентних ламп. Крім бібліотеки, ця будівля використовувалася як центр для історичних, політичних і культурних досліджень. Щорічно отримує від 160 000 до 180 000 документів, включаючи книги, журнали, газети тощо. Вона також була призначена бібліотекою-депозитарієм Організації Об’єднаних Націй, завданням якої є отримання всіх публікацій англійською та російською мовами від ООН та її спеціальних установ.

The Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine is the main academic library and main scientific information center in Ukraine, one of the world’s largest national libraries. The library has the most complete collection of Slavic writing, archives of outstanding world and Ukrainian scientists and cultural persons. The holdings include the collection of the presidents of Ukraine, archive copies of Ukrainian printed documents from 1917, and the archives of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The building was built in a brutalistic style between 1975 and 1989. It has a total of 27 floors spanning across an 76,7 meter tall central tower where the main collection is stored. The building also features some reading rooms, most of them adorned with skylights that allow everyone to read under the Kyivan sky instead of some fluorescent light. Apart from a library, this building has been used as a hub for historical, political and cultural research. Annually they receive anywhere between 160,000 to 180,000 documents including books, magazines, newspapers… It has also been designated as a United Nations depository library tasked with receiving all English and Russian language publications from the United Nations and its special institutions.

La Biblioteca Nacional Vernadsky de Ucrania es la principal biblioteca académica y el principal centro de información científica de Ucrania, una de las bibliotecas nacionales más grandes del mundo. La biblioteca tiene la colección más completa de escritura eslava, archivos de destacados científicos y personas culturales del mundo y de Ucrania. Los fondos incluyen la colección de los presidentes de Ucrania, copias de archivo de documentos impresos ucranianos de 1917 y los archivos de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias de Ucrania. Anualmente reciben entre 160.000 y 180.000 documentos, incluidos libros, revistas, periódicos… También ha sido designada como biblioteca depositaria de las Naciones Unidas encargada de recibir todas las publicaciones en inglés y ruso de las Naciones Unidas y sus instituciones especiales.
