Description:

Show monster AI and potential abilities with an in game overlay!

While in combat, you can Shift+Right+Click a monster to get a popup screen listing out their potential move sets. This mod should work for all monsters in the base game – across all ascension levels! Right click again to close out of the overlay and get back into the game. You can remove the holding "Shift" requirement in the in-game config screen, found at the Main Menu -> Mods -> Bestiary -> Config menu.

NEW: Controller users can now access the overlay by first targeting the monster (it’ll show the 4 yellow triangles and a pop up description of what they intend to do if done correctly). Then you press whatever button you use to open your draw pile (Left trigger by default) to open up the overlay. The overlay can be closed by pressing your cancel button (B on an Xbox controller by default).

This is NOT a cheat mod – it does not provide any additional information that you cannot already access while in game (either from keeping your own notes or looking at the Slay the Spire reference spreadsheet). For higher level players who plan moves out in advance, this tool helps you to understand the probability distributions of the enemies’ AI and can help you make more informed decisions about what might be coming up next. This mod is just as useful for ascension climbing players as well – you’ll be able to jumpstart your learning process and get access to the information used by top players to evaluate the game without requiring the thousands of hours of experience that they have spent memorizing it.

This mod is also designed to be streamer-friendly. It can be used to show off why you might be making a particular set of decisions given knowledge that your general audience may not have – you can bring up the overlay to help you explain why you’re doing what you’re doing.

If you find issues with the mod (especially missing or inaccurate information) – please don’t hesistate to post a comment here or start an issue on the Github page so I can get it fixed. Thanks!

INSTALLATION

To install, make sure you have all the prerequesites (ModTheSpire and BaseMod). Then, launch the game using the "Play with Mods" option. Make sure "Bestiary" is checked and enabled, and you should be ready to go!

KNOWN ISSUES

* InfoMod users should disable the "Monster Compendium" module and use this instead – this mod fixes a lot of bugs in the original compendium, improves the UI, and is basically a straight up upgrade of everything from that original mod. Future InfoMod updates (coming soon to the workshop!) will remove that module entirely, so you’ll eventually just require this separate mod anyway.
